AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

Each card run at its default clock, so yes lighting runs at 1080 while 295x2 at 1018.
They can be clocked independently, even the 2 cores of the 295x2 can be clocked
at different speeds.
But in a trifire setup drivers are everything not overclocking

Seems I have some good overclocking ability now, doubt I will since the card seems perfectly capable. Temps don't go above 65C and the fans never seem to go above 50-60%. Had a problem with speedfan ramping the fan up to 100%...seems there was a warning temperature of 50C set on the gpu...increased that to 74C and problem solved :)

You seem to have a nice system you got going there. My only question is, what is your failsafe if speed fan does not launch one day with Windows or crashes and you don't realise and play a intensive game? Can you set default fan speed at mobo to be 100% for the fans or something until speed fan loads up?

Defaults to 100%. Plus the temps are monitored on my keyboard and the card will throttle to keep it at 74C max, so not a concern :)

Hello everyone
so warriorlow is playing with us bf4 and hes got 295x2 and I have explained my CPU spikes (when using mantle) to him and switched to DX11 on bf...now on ultra on test range when I spawn in on B he does the same hes got more FPS and doesn't drop below 100 and he is on 1440p I am on 1080... hes got i7 devils cayon I've got i5 DK but I got much less FPS...wierd
I've got some screenshots of the Afterburner

I noticed that the gpu usage was ranging a lot it was never like on 90 it goes up and down all the time,is this normal ?

I have then switched back to mantle and tried capping FPS to 120 (as on mantle I can get between 160-250 on test range) and that was horrible got such a huge spikes rather then for a second or something it was like 30 seconds....

I have also done frame analyzer from
0a3uK1c.png

This is me on mantle on test range using AmdMatt cfg file:
during the spike

after the spike:

tring to limit FPS to 120 by using this commands :
WorldRender.TransparencyShadowmapsEnable 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurEnable 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurQuality 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurMaxSampleCount 0
WorldRender.SpotLightShadowmapEnable 0
WorldRender.LightTileCsPathEnable 0
PostProcess.DynamicAOEnable 0
PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1
GameTime.MaxVariableFps 120
WorldRender.PlanarReflectionEnable 0
Result :

I haven't tried the frame analyzer on mantle yet...

I need help with this cpu spikes I stopped playing for a 2 months hoping next patch will help around but it doesn't....
The thing is I can play on dx11 but i have to play on MEDIUM SETTINGS !!! in order to get to 120 fps which is ridiculous as my friend can play on 100 fps on high with 970gtx....

Any ideas I can try ?:confused:
This has been happening since I got the 295x2....fresh reinstall of win 7...

@Smrtka: Look at those CPU graphs, you are entirely CPU limited. Not much you can do if you can't overclock your CPU nor upgrade it besides lowering the frame rate to something the CPU can still cope with. As it is in those graphs CPU is going to struggle to provide a smooth frame rate to the GPU, which to me seems to be the cause of your problems.

For me (5820K OC, 1440p) the GPU load is about 50-60% at 60 fps, no big spikes but the load does vary a bit over time. And it's silky smooth.

Also, it might help if you posted full system specs, and what driver you're using (I'm on 15.5 beta now). Though that's not going to help your CPU bottleneck in any way.

I'd have to agree, looking at that all your cpu threads are maxed out. What else do you have running at the same time? Can you show a screenshot of task manager running whilst you play and all threads are at 99%? Perhaps something else is using up some (in your case) valuable cpu cycles.

now thats pretty interesting.... I would think that the cpu spikes then occure when i do something like destroy a building or something... but they are random.....
my spec is :
Intel Core i5-4690K
16gb ram ddr3
m500/mx100/1tb hdd
MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Intel Z97
1000W evga g2
295x2

here is a screenshot from test range followed by task manager (please note the yellow graph bar on the actual screenshot)why am I not getting cpu spikes ALL the time ?

Also NO CPU SPIKES on dx11 just mantle, look at those 2 graphs one on mantle one on dx11 (no cpu spikes just standing around) also note the fps (same settings)

All of my devices are stock...I have no idea how to overclock.

Figured out what was causing my throttling; it was powerlimit. I just left it on default (0), but as soon as I put it on 20%, throttling was gone.

Rather odd, thought it was related to temperatures so I also got two SP120 fans in push/pull configuration. Got a nice braided splitter and I am running both the fans from GPU. I know I could do same as CaptainRave and run them from mobo for more control and better temps, but my temps as it is are 70-72C in a game like Crysis 3 with zero throttle, so don't see the point as of yet.

Get the feeling Matt will be along soon if he has not left already to say, "why not set powerlimit to 50%?" lol :D

Do you guys all have it at 50% at all times?

I pity the fool that does not use 50%. :p

Hahaha. I actually went and put it on 50% straight after I posted earlier. So no pity required here sir!:p:D

I never got around to disabling ULPS as everything seemed fine, does it really make a difference? If anyone can elaborate on that, it would be great :)

I do mate.

Thank you for taking the time to respond :)

Yep, 50% all the time here too.

The fans are running great - as quiet as the stock fan and temps never going above 66C. Fans barely breaking a sweat either...very pleased :)

ULPS disabled on mine, but doesn't seem as essential as it was on my 7990.
