AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

updated drivers on my card and dx11 on LOW setting 1080p and increased from around 90 to around 100 fps on bf4....magic I used to have same kind of fps with my 570gtx

So I have OC'd my cpu to 4.4Ghz from 3.5 as you guys pointed out (with help from fellow ocuk guys)

and I noticed that i still get low fps, and my cpu is beeing used 99% !
on dx its like this :
8FVPhjc.png

And on mantle its like this :

Any ideas ? I don't believe its the cpu.... its 4690K...

Did you do all the normal suggestions like 50% on powerlimit and disable ULPS? Apart from that I cannot think of anything from the top of my head.

This is the issue with multi gpu setups, they are not exactly plug and play.

Try disabling one GPU and try and see what happens.

Finally got to spend some quality time with my 295x2 today. Installed the new SP120 fans which lowered temps a little, disabled ULPS and set 50% powerlimit. No more throttling, huzzah!! :D

Played some Crysis 3 and Tomb Raider 4k maxed out (no AA) and they both felt very smooth. It does seem they have come a long way with crossfire, when they get proper drivers, the games work nicely.

My most anticipated game is Deus Ex Mankind Divided which is an AMD game, so I am expecting it to work day one with CrossFire :D

Can you maybe walk me trough this bits ? or be more specific

Install MSI Afterburner, open it up and slide the power limit slider all the way to the right so it says 50%, click the tick icon to apply. Now open setting (cog icon) and scroll down to the bottom of the general tab and you will see "disable ULPS" tick the check box, press OK, reboot PC, jobs a goodun. :)

I don't have the option to disable one card in catalyst...

With the 295x2 there is no option to disable crossfire with one button for some reason. You have to go into ccc and add an application profile and then in the profile it gives you the option to disable it for that particular game.

I got an application profile for like 6 games at least. Most I disable crossfire as it is overkill using both gpu's for those particular games or crossfire is not working optimally yet. For example mortal kombat x, as it never dips below 60fps in gameplay with single gpu everything maxed at 4k, I don't see the need to run crossfire. You benefit from having much lower temps too. Playing FIFA 15 my temps don't even reach 50C :)

If you have a 120hz or 144hz screen you may wish to have crossfire on for majority of your games though.

Will post pictures of my build here shortly :D

I have 144hz, so I would love to have 144fps on games....sadly bf4 is using 98% of my cpu...Its hard for me to believe that 4,4ghz i5 4690k is not capable of keeping up

Images of my 295x2 build

Got to take some pictures last night of my 295x2 rig, enjoy :D

Should have removed the dust from the window, can't see it in person much, but comes out in pictures :o:p:)

Happy with this until 16nm comes out :D

Ooooh that's nice TNA
Great job, enjoy it! :D

Thanks dude :)

Looking good TNA.

Deffo need an Corsair SP120 LED on that radiator!

I thought about it, but I felt the case is well lit anyway so it is enough :)

Besides, everything apart from the radeon logo I have control over and can change it to a different colour, so if I decided to go nvidia, all I have to do is change it to green. I really do like the inbuilt lighting of the Phantom 820.

Wow that some bright red case :) looks good

If you want to make it pretty i would suggest THIS

This is how it looks like HERE

Yeah, it looks nice at night. The case is actually white and during the day the brightness of the red is well balanced.

I was close buying those hose separators the other day, but as you can see from the picture, I would hardly be able to see them as the fan on the side covers the tubes, so would only see it when I take the side panel off, which is hardly ever. Would have definitely got them if I did not have a fan there, as they look very cool.

I actually kind of like the pipes are covered by the fan, they are being cooled by the fan too. It can't be seen in the pictures, but I have a nice black braided fan splitter nicely blended behind the tubes :D

I had a search but couldn't find anything concrete, is there a tool available that will allow me to edit the BIOS.

ive found a great combination of clocks id love to stick into the BIOS

Done quite a bit of reading and not come across anything like that.

Never really looked into it properly as I intend on keeping everything on stock myself. Only thing I am doing is disable ULPS and 50% powerlimit and it runs nicely :D

Snagged a gentle typhoon AP-53 and its a ton better than the stock pos fan that comes with the 295x2, barely any difference in sound between the pc at idle and load now. Temps max out at 71c in heaven benchmark and not seen them go any higher.
