AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

just wondering what sort of score should i get with my system/setup on valley 1.0

i7 4770k oc'd to 4.4 with a cosair h100 cooler
maximus 6 hero board with 8 gig of ram
1300 psu evga supernova
sapphier 9 295 at stock speeds
240 gb ssd
am useing the amd 14.7 beat drivers
asus 28 inch 4k monitor

used the system for 3 hours of rome 2 and afterburner said the card never hit past 60 temp wise.

In bf 4 with mantel running with all on ultra the ingame fps reader says i am hitting on average 62 fps.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated :)

I have almost the same setup as yours except my CPU is clocked at 4.2 (poopy chip) and Im using 14.8 drivers.

On BF4 on Ultra & 2xMSAA im getting around 80-100 FPS. On Tomb Raider i get 72 Av FPS on the benchmark. This was all on stock and @ 4K. hope that helps

So i just got the 14.8 beat drivers and installed them . i was hopeing to get atleast 5000 on valley in 1080p but i managed to get 4354 :/.

I went to test out fps in bf4 and something really weird happened. In the menu screen my mouse pointer is 2 inchs of from where the menu is highlighted. So I cant click on 1/2 of the menu, but when i leave the menu and go back into the game the cursor reacts to where it should be .

Same in wow I cant click any menu functions at all. I have tried 3 diffrent mice and they are all doing it ! any ideas what is going on ?

Someone else can help you with the BF4.

I will only help you seeing that you get 4354 on Valley. I had this score when my rad was on the wrong position and the card was throttling due to heat.

To assist you we need a description of where your rad is and how is positioned. (photo would do it).

Also download MSI AB and tell us the idle and load temps, along with the settings you run the card with. Use the MSI Overlay Monitor to see how the card behaves while in games (top left corner will give you the stats you have selected like usage, core speed and temp)
Also disable ULPS and basically check everything on the settings tab.
We are here to help :)

Here are the overlay and my settings to give you an idea

Dont have any photo sites i can post to atm i will open 1 tomorrow.

I ran valley twice with your settings and i got 4520 and 4600 so a little bit of an improvement. Afterburnner said the temps at full load were gpu 1 67 gpu2 66. At idle they are 36c. ULPS is unchecked and everything else is ;)

I have mounted the radiator to the back top mounting in my phantom 630 case. The cooling hoses are at the bottom of the fan and are 3 inchs away from the actual gpu itself. My h100 cooler for my cpu is mounted in the top of the case.

Any more ideas Panos ? and thanks for the help cause god knows i need it with this card

You used the overlay to keep an eye on the core & temps while valley was running? Also you need to disable the UPLS.
Also does your motherboard support PCI3? Can you check with GPU-Z that is on?

Change the DP connection, if you are using the one next to DVI. Someone else was experiencing some issues with that port, but had connected DVI monitor also though.

Also did you try to switch the BIOS? there is a switch on the card. Just in case turn it, and see. Or else RMA it :(

I've moved ports but doesn't seem to made a difference.. not tried bios but overclockers are collecting it tomorrow so i'll just have to see.

Realised today that I made a mistake buying this card......... My gpu isn't going to heat up the room any more, as they did over the past few years. :D:D
(pretty cold outside)

@ßeorn good luck mate :/ lets hope they have one to replace it with.

I actually played through and completed Crysis 2 and 3 finally, thanks to this card.

Crysis 2 is fairly decent

Crysis 3 is a bit rubbish really. Story makes little/no sense. After I unlocked/levelled up the stealth parts of my suits I could get through large parts of each mission without even getting in to a firefight.

After 2 hours of gameing the card never went over 67c . Soz the pic of the pc insides is not that good my room is dark and trying to shine the torch and take a pic on my phone at the same time was a bit of a juggling act xD

The Valley score you have is that "low" because the screenshot shows it was only running on 1018/1250. Maybe the settings weren't applied properly?

Opps i must have reset Ab by accident have applied the oc and I am not getting any better results. The temps hit 69c now and I noticed 1/2 way through valley the gpu usage dropped to 40-60% for 5 seconds and then wnt upto 96% is that normal?

Is your AB still set to the default 6s measurement intervals? It could have shot up to ~74C and started throttling, and at 6s intervals you can't really see that.

The weird thing though is that your minimum framerate is fine. Also, try ever so slightly boosting the GPU clock ... 1020, 1025, perhaps you can go higher than that (no miracles here though). But watch temperatures and GPU clock in AB.

Then you are definitely running out of power and/or throttling so you'll need to lower settings until it stops doing that. Check AB settings and make sure to monitor GPU clock, temps and framerate at a 1000ms interval at most.

I have core voltage down to -70 should i may be raise it and see what happens? Also when you say I might be running out of power surely it cant be the psu as its a brand new 1300w supanova with a 120v rail on it

Yeah, raise the core voltage (gently). Better yet, set all back to default and start going from there. First make sure you're stable without throttling at default, then start increasing memory clock. If 1625 is stable, keep it there ... then, start on the CPU clock (though it needs more power for that, and few of us can do much with that setting). Core voltage last. Change one thing at a time.

Running out of power means literally running out of power on the card. It already runs well above the PCI-E spec with it's 2x28A demand, and at some point the electronics just can't provide enough power to all its components anymore. The trick is finding those settings where you're just below the power and stability limits of your particular card.
