AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

as a test i changed the setup from intake on the rad to Outake and run Crysis 3 for an hour both are in push pull config in the front of the case

On intake it never maxed out past 70 at any point and was about 65 avg, the same on outake and it was maxing out at 75 and was about 72-73 avg and the card throttled a lot
Ive now switched back to intake :)

Ps when i switched to outake i made sure the rear exhaust became intake

Running Arma3 @ 1080p Ultra settings, in towns getting 34 -40 fps, in country side gettting 40 - 50 fps. GPU temps 60 - 65 degrees however my GPU usage is only around 33 -50%, is this normal?
Here's my AB settings.

Yep that's about right for arma

Just wondering, would it possible be better to mount the rad at the front of my H440? Airflow at the front is terrible, but I'm wondering whether it's just not getting much air at the back at all. I could mount it with 1 140mm fan above it.

radeon 295x2 crashing

Hi guys, i have the new sapphire radeon 295x2 but when im playing games it makes my monitors seem like the go into sleep mode. I know my games still running cause i my friends on ts tell me but i hav to retatr my pc every time.Iv tried the old drivers, current drivers and beta drivers but no joy. Pc settings are the exact same as before, i even bought a new corsair i860 psu to see if that was the problem, but no joy again. The game im playing is WoW. Anyone got any ideas????

My rig pic. Good enough for the club?

:) welcome. One note though.
The radiator pipes should go to the bottom not the top.

First a pun...... The card will go to sleep if you play WoW :p

Second. I assume you used DDU to clean up the previous drivers.
Also I assume you are using the DP connector to the monitor correct?

Regardless, look at the power options not to turn off the monitor after x minutes.

Thanks Panos, only issue is as you can see from the pic there's not enough room to have the pipes running from the bottom, my behemoth of cpu cooler is in the way. It's not too much of a biggie though is it? It's a closed loop system with a pump isn't it?

According to Coolit the pipes are supposed to go at the top. I know they don't make this cooler but when mine failed they pointed it out to me.

It shouldn't matter in theory, given the pump is in the block.

Got mine underwater finally (big kudos for Overclockers in RMA'ing a leaky waterblock and a 295x2), under load topping out at 50c, water temp after the rad 30c (go MO-RA3)...

Lucky you!

Doing a draft spec of WC stuff and most of it is either on pre-order or out of stock. The only thing OC have in stock that I want are the fittings :/

Interesting. I'm going to try a front-mount later in the week, same configuration as yours. Just slightly concerned as the instructions say mount the rad higher than the card - from your pics its pretty close to being on the same level (and would be with mine), although it hardly seems to be hurting performance admittedly.

According to the A5 warning leaflet (open the box)

The rad has to be higher than the card, and with the pipes down.

When I had it on same level or below the card, or when pipes were on the top or side the rad couldn't be touched (very hot) and the temps were 70C with the start of any 100% GPU usage.

When I put it on the correct positon, albeit on top of the case (left sided case :( ), the temps drop significantly and the rad never was hot on touch. (only the top of it after 2 hours on Crysis 3, but the rest of the rad was cool and max temps well bellow 70C).

Has to be overclocked heavily adding a lot of power to hit the throttling temperatures with the AIO cooling.

Also an advice, if you put a dust filter make sure is a very good one and doesn't affect airflow. The Akasa one I bought added 5C on the card temps :/

So I put it with 1cm gap to the fan, and works ok now, until I go fully under water.

Try playing in Direct X11 mode and full screen windowed mode - AMD and direct x9 don't mix well and it certainly won't crossfire (it will only use one GPU).

anyone had any issues with their card?

i've RMA'd mine as i've had flickering, crashes and games just not run well at all.. after some reboots it works but i shouldn't have to reboot twice every time i want to do anything..

my issue is i'm unsure if OCuk will find the same issues..
