AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

I have 2 2x295 in my rig and I have never needed to change the fans as my temps hardly ever go above 67, I can play everything I throw at them at 4k they are the best cards I have ever owned.

I'd be interested to hear from other 295x2 users as to what fans they're using, is anyone using a fan controller etc? Or is everyone using the stock fan?

OK I have tried

Stock cooler at 100% speed if blows cold air is adequate but keep low on overclocks.....

2 Piranhas too loud for my linking at 100% speed, while below 70% speed I found them not to push air!!!!!!
2 Apache not that happy either, idk why. Even tried them on the H100i (since I put the Magmas on the 295X2) and next day went and bought 2 more magmas (push pull setup there also).

2 Enermax Magma. Suprisigly with those I have the best results and are on the system since forever running at 70% speed. Even at 100% speed they are very quiet fans.....

I use a Y splitter for powering the fans, and they are connected on the MB where I can set the fan speed from the speedfan app (not that was ever needed)

Regarding the fans, CFM & pressure.
The AIO cooler, while thick, is not "dense" as fins go compared eg to the H100i rad or some custom cooler rads.
Possibly that is why I have the best results with 2 high CFM medium pressure fans, than with higher pressure ones. (ok the Piranhas are loud, are out of the equation if on paper they seem the best of the 4)

I would urge everyone to try what is better suited for their setup. As long as the fans have some* static pressure, and good CFM they will do.

(*eg the SP120 Silent some are using have none, hence there are complains about throttling).

If Matt has good results with the Noctuas, I believe that these are a very good option also :D

I'm using the stock fan on the rad and my temps don't normally go above 68 after several hours of BF4, this is in a enthoo pro case with the rad mounted in the top venting out.

Stock clocks and voltage?

Good to hear.

Good info and i can see you've tested a lot of fans.

Im messing about with fans at the minute so i can give a few thoughts and some of the fans ive used:

SP120 quiet edition = does the job, keeps card below 69c. does have an annoying hum noise to it though.

Noctua Industrial 2000 RPM = for some reason i cant keep these fans on low rpms through the motherboard fan header, it keeps ramping up high then back low and again and again, quite annoyed with that so thats a no.

Bitfenix Spectre Pro = most quiet of the ones i tested but not as good at moving the air as the sp120s. throttled.

I have some pirahnas, might swap them in if i can be bothered see how it goes. Pretty annoyed i cant setup fan curves for the fan connected to the GPU header though :(

That sounds like the motherboard is not feeding them enough voltage, check the fan control settings in your mobo. Do you have an Asus board?

Finally got my 295X2 setup. Works perfectly fine with my 850W Enermax PSU.

I'll have to check what my card is running at as haven't touched it since I got it, but i'm sure i'm running at -50mvh with a small oc on the core but nothing on the memory. I'll check later when I get in also i'll double check the temps as i have to say I don't really keep an eye on them as haven't had any issues or throttling since I have had it.

Looks very neat, I would try gaming for a long period as well, something like bf4 to see how is the stability over long periods but it should be plenty 850W.

Also what fan you have on the rad ?
Look at THIS post of mine...
They have different colours as well which might suit your needs and make it look absolutely epic and match your colour scheme. Blue tube separators

I do, does the fact that im running two of them off a single pwm splitter causing it too?

That won't help for sure. Try running one off of a header and see if it works.

-0.050v is a good place to start. I bet even the worst 295x2 will do that, or close to it.

I wonder if AMDmatt buying 2 295x2s is finally what we need to get 60fps at 4k on dying light :) I might buy a second one if I knew which titles 4-way works amazingly in.

I'm going to start playing that game once our next driver comes out. :)

oh bhoy i hope this means DL driver coming out soon lol. Dead rising 3 I've not tried in 4k for a while is that functional yet? Might try tonight.

I'm sorry to say that this game is not multi gpu friendly at all, as a result i would not expect a Crossfire profile for this game. This quote was pulled from a Capcom employee and was included with the Dead Rising 3 pc patch notes.

We also want to comment on some of the issues people are having when trying to force SLI and Crossfire to work. Some players have set up their systems to force usage of both GPUs by default, and some players have tried to force SLI/Crossfire ON while playing DR3. While this can benefit some games, DR3 PC does not make use of dual-GPUs. If your system is set to force dual-GPU usage when playing games, you can expect to see lower frame rates when compared to not forcing this setting.

Capcom is one of the worst developers when it comes to PC games. They really have no interest in enthusiast users like us. As long as the game works for the casual majority, thats good enough for them.
