AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

Finally got my 295X2 setup. Works perfectly fine with my 850W Enermax PSU.

:D Awesome

The fans on the 295X2 rad are NZXT fans.

Yeah I have those blue tube seperators in my ebay watch list. I saw your post a couple days ago

Guuud :) this is ground breaking stuff for us 295x2 owners so I just want to be sure as many ppl knows about it as possible...definitely look neater then zipties.

Well lets see if these Corsair SP120 Performance fans do the trick in push-pull.

Early results with Heaven 4.0 were promising. Left it running for 10 minutes inc 2 benchmark runs and max temp got to 71C

He using the new Superflower 2000w psu

I am indeed, but a high quality 1200W until will be sufficient.

Matt, how's you're 295x2's going.

Changed anything since last time :)

Wonderful, delighted with the cards. Not sure why i waited so long to try it. Good learning curve for me as well.

I've discovered that unlike Hawaii, Vesuvias memory speed is not tied to core voltage. As a result i can run -0.075v in afterburner on both 295's and overclock the memory to 1625Mhz up from 1250Mhz without issue or black screen. In Sniper Elite V3 at 4K this memory clock increase results in a performance increase of 8.6%.

I was really drooling over CF of dual 295X2s but in the end I didn't do it even when I already had the second card in my hands.

With my Sapphire 295X2 at stock, my card will eventually always drop the clocks in heavier games like Sleeping Dogs. Also the heat dump into out small apartment would be a bit too heavy. :D And with a 360mm AIO on top of my Phanteks Enthoo Primo case, I'd have to install the rads into the bottom.

By the way I asked Sapphire if changing the radiator fan would invalidate my warranty and according to them it does. Great. So either a burning hot card with warranty or a bit cooler card without warranty.

Matt, have you tried Sleeping Dogs and what temps are you getting in CF? I believe that game is the 'Furmark' of all games. Without Vsync of course. :)

Happy to do a few test runs of the benchmark sequence. Name what tests you'd like me to do and how many times you want me to run them. For sure Sleeping Dogs is literally a worst case scenario though.

Thanks Matt! Well usually I just load any savegame and choose any place in game where I get 99-100 % scaling (I've seen 99 % even in 4-way SLI). Then I leave it there for up to 30 minutes so I can see max temps and if I get any throttling.

Be very careful though, don't blow up your cards or PSU with this test as it really is a worst case scenario. When SD was released, many people complained that their GPUs were overheating.

What are your setting on bf4 guys ?
I want the best looking game & highest fps , I've spend a bit tweaking to keep the fps over 160 as I play on 144Hz monitor.

I been trying 1080p 144Hz with 200% scaling in BF4 which = 4k. Mantle,
Max settings no AA. Looks really good, that's with V.SYNC on as i get tearing otherwise.

What i would like to know! is would a real 4k Monitor look better?

And would the settings above feel more smoother being 144Hz compared to 4k @ 60 Hz.

if a real 4k monitor looks that same as above settings, but don't feel as smooth as the settings above, then i won't bother with a 4k monitor.

If someone (Matt Maybe) can give some feed back to this please ;)

Cheers.

A 4K monitor would indeed look a lot better, but the issue, like you said, is 4K monitors being only 60hz right now, and that is the deal breaker for me.
I prefer smoothness over image quality, so until 4K monitors support 144hz, I will not even consider them. 1080p @ 144hz is far better than 4K @ 60hz, imo.

You have those 2x2952x yes ? cos I've tried the 200 scaling on test server with 60 fps :d no good for 144hz display :D
