AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

@up2nogooduk
You'll find that you can go to about 135-140% scaling (assuming your base res is 1080p) with full ultra/4xAA before you may start running into vram issues on the more demanding maps.
200% (4K) is perfectly doable if you disable AA. Looks great either way tbh.
ED: This is assuming Mantle usage. You may see lower usage with DX11.

@Smrtka
Undervolting is basically lowering the voltage of the gpu below stock settings, which means it uses less power and runs cooler as a result.

Will try 200% with no AA Thanks :)
Would you lose much performance lowering the Voltage?

Cheers :)

Btw, I just tried ultra/4xAA @200% in DX11 and only saw usage in the mid 3GB range.
However, it was a noticable step down from Mantle smoothery. Not unplayable or anything, just not as nice.

I'd personally rather use mantle with either of the settings I mentioned earlier fwiw.

OK, so if my max temps are 68 there is no need to do so is it? I also wonder what are the temps with dual fan setup with the noctura fans... Isn't it very loud? :confused:

No, not any real need there.
It's not always a matter of need tbh though. You may just want to get your temps and power draw as low as you can for whatever reason, even if they're not troubling in the first place.

Just tried ultra/0xAA @200% with V-SYNC, with mantle... looks really good. and very smooth.
That mean no need for a 4K monitor then? :D

What fan control you using Matt.
Are them fans sucking air in or out.

I just up the res on bf4 to 1600p. What a difference. Even with v.sync on it's so smooth.

What a difference 3 GPU's make.

My temps were 65. 66 on the 295x2, and 62 on the Lightning. I'm sure @ 4k it will rise.. that's Sucking air out. Maybe 2 fans sucking air in will be better.

Summer time it will get hot lol.
I haven't took the voltage down tho. Not sure I need to till I use 4k..

Sucking air in. With the 750D I'm not sure it would work at the front as an exhaust because there is a big plastic cover near the front fans. There would be very little room for the heat to escape.

I think the best setup might be to move the top rad to the top rear of the case and move the bottom rad up a slot to the front. Have them both intaking and the H110 as my main exhaust through the roof. This makes most sense with how heat rises, however this may spoil the looks and the pipes would be in different places. I will see how this goes for now, but i may change it later. I'm very happy at the moment though.

I've had Afterburner on for the whole day and max temp was 66 C and that was BF4 on ultra 1080p with stock fans,

Matt shouldn't the pipes be on the bottom ? and can you please explain what is that undervolting and what are the benefits ?

The pipes are at the bottom mate, what do you mean? :confused:

Niiiiiiiiiiiiice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool:

Ok -0.090v was not perfect either. I noticed some minor texture corruption and occasional screen flicker, so I'm now running -0.080v and looking good. May try -0.085v just to get temps as low as possible, but if not i think either -0.075v or -0.080v will be golden for lifetime 24/7 at 1018/1250.

From the picture it looks like the pipes on the GPU rad are to the left, I thought they have to be on the bottom...or maybe I'm just blind

Ah ok i see what you mean. Yes they are to the side, i don't think it would be possible to have them any other way because i have two rads next to each other.

I thought that it needs to be on the bottom for the best performance....that might be the reason for higher temps ?

I doubt it makes much difference, but I've not tested this personally. Temps are not an issue for me at the moment, but I've not had an extended gaming session yet.

This is with the fans at very low rpm (barely moving) and silent.
