AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

Yeah it wasn't kicking in at all.
I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled the same ones, seems to be working now :)

Time for a temperature test. Still unsure if I should have it as an intake or exhaust.

Good to hear Tom, i can go to bed then. :p

Btw, intake will result in cooler core temps at the expense of slightly higher 295x2 vrm - cpu temps.

Me too :p I was worried I'd be spending all night on this.
My CPU runs in the 40s so I might give it a go as an intake later on.

I have just joined the club :)

So what do I need to do when I get it.

- fan set on intake to case?
- undervolt core to?
- any overclocking scope?

Hopefully this will run cooler than my 7990! Now to sell the thing!

Welcome fellow 295x2 user !

I have fan setup to push air trough rad outside the case, also make sure that when you position the rad the pipes are on the bottom, not absolutly essential but proven to reduce the temps a bit. I never go over 63 degrees but summer is coming and I might do push pull config..

Rest of the questions I have no answer for as I left my card at stock, With my luck I would break it straight away if I would touch anything :)

I would also reccoment this just for esthetical purpouses...much nicers then the stock zipties.
Hose separators also available in different colours.

I have a push pull config exhausting out the back of my case, and after 15 mins of furmark, I was hitting 75 degrees, and noticed a bit of throttling. Confident I wont be hitting those temps during normal gaming though.

I'd never run a program like that on these, haven't used furmark since I had a 680 I think, that was at least 3 years ago.

Same way I don't use intel burn test on my CPU, it's just unnecessary load on the components that they will likely never hit during gaming or normal usage.

Happy with the 295x2? :)

Are the pipes on the bottom ? what fans do you use ?
Furmark is not really a great representation of load testing as it hit very very hard, harder then any game, any can actually dmg your card, try leaving heaven on for an hour or something and monitor the temps...not benchmarking just open...

Spot on so far, very pleased with my upgrades this week. Just hope freesync works perfectly on release of the crossfire drivers :)

We are all eagerly waiting for the update and your input on this ! Fingers cross it works straight away...

I managed to undervolt mine to -70mv keeping core clocks at stock but whacked the mem core up to 1650 stable. Temps stayed around the 66c mark. Your mileage may vary but these cards seem to overclock fine on the mem when undervolting.

Matt did you used your old 4x 290x or got new ones ? are you not regretting ? :P

I'll always miss my time with the 295x2, it's a great card and I'm glad i bought a couple and got to use them in QuadFire.

For my needs though i require 8gb of video memory and only one card offers that on the market currently.

Am i regretting my switch back? No. :)

Matt do you remember how far you could undervolt this card? I have it at -50mV right now and running fine.

I think Ayahuasca got the card that would undervolt to around -0.050v - -0.060v.

You got the card that undervolts further, somewhere in the region of -0.060v-0.075v i think.

You'll have to test yourself though as i can't remember the exact specifics.

Ayahuasca's card had the rare treat of identical core temps or within 1c of each other, which is great for me as i love that sort of thing on a dual card.

Your card has around a 3-4c gap on core temps, which seems fairly normal for the 295 range.

Yeah temps on the cores are really close, biggest difference I've seen is 2c max temps.

-50mv works fine I may try -60 but doubt it will make much difference. Might try maxing the memory slider in afterburner. Is it 1690 they'll do or 1625?
