AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

If funds allow you could try a new case. I've noticed the Corsair 540 has a direct airflow path across the cards and plenty of places to mount the rad. The PSU also sits behind the motherboard so you don't get any heat from that inside the chamber with your components.

I'm just waiting for the new CPU's to come out before I switch everything to that case with a new MOBO and some DDR4.

TBH, it's been a great case... it's just in this instance now with the amount of gear I have inside... normally there would be lovely cold air blowing right onto the GPU's but like I say because the CPU heatsink is the size of a battleship... I had to remove it... hwoever it does mean with a bit of fettling I could put this 295x2 radiator and fan on the outside of this.... will have a fiddle when I get in from work... been a couple of years since been messing with gear... I'm enjoying myself lol. Might actually game at some point tonight lmfao.

As a quick one, how comes I can't get unique Heaven to run either with my 7990's or this new install on R9 series as a custom resolution of 5760x1080? Always used to with my 6990's... but ever since... it just RED's out the 5760 and won't run it.

EDIT: Also, TriFire and MANTLE my god, it doesn't like it... CPU spikes everywhere and just not smooth, disable crossfire running on the 295x and it's fine... is it these drivers? Omega's? MATT - You have any problem as my rig is clearly smoother and faster in BF4 and Mantle running just the 295x2 and not tri. Run it in DX11 and runs over 100fps. BF3 in DX11 runs around 85fps in Caspian with just the 295x2 but with trifire getting 120fps+ and it's like butter.

I tried an old Noctua fan I had for my NH-D14 and strangely that worked, even though it uses almost identical power to the industrial one.

Right, after all the playing around, core won't go up too much, but the ram loves 1500mhz... and it's running everything soooo sweet now... getting great use out of all 3 GPU's in BF3/BF4 etc and other games...

However, the new Afterburner does cause problems with Mantle in BF4, by not using it to overclock and using CCC it's perfect... when switch back... I'm getting in the 30fps region in BF4...

So, all in, nice result.

My temps max at 62C on the 295x2 now... very pleased... the rad and fan are outside the case... and it's also meant that the 290x below it is now running a lot cooler... starting to appreciate how quick these things are over the 7990's... seems to be maxing in trifire in BF3/BF4 all three GPU's a lot of the time apart from Shangai... happy Pug :-)

I had to shave the 2 little notches off the 3 pin to fit them on my Corsair 500R fan controller connectors. Works well, can knock them down to the lowest when not gaming so they can't be heard and whack it up max before launching a game :)

BF4 temps are down by about 5c.

How did you get the rad outside the case?
