AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

Hi guys, just double checking. Playing Crysis 3 this morning with the new AMD drivers (Can't remember if the same usage happened in the Omega drivers) Game runs really well at 1440p, crossfire is enabled just the usage is sitting around 60% for both cards whilst im playing. Anyway to get this ramped up at all please?

Are you using vsync or an fps cap? If the cards can produce the fps required without working at 99% utilisation then they will do this.

Hmm restarted the PC went into another server and the usage is high again but the performance didn't feel as smooth haha, unless it varies from server to server? :S

CPU usage is 100% whilst playing, using no vsync or fps cap. Just curious actually is they anyway for me to set a fps cap of 144hz in MSI Afterburner please?

Sorry, did't realise you meant multiplayer.

Sounds normal then as you'll see increased cpu usage and possible server/connection issues which will put more strain on the cpu.

I'd honestly snap another one up if 4 cards scaled well in all games.

You need 1600w+ to run these in quadfire though.

In before Gibbo :)

Quad Crossfire you say?

Your gonna need a bigger PSU

It just so happens OcUK has the worlds best PSU!!!

I know the SuperFlower units can draw more than they advertise but I still wouldn't risk it. It's around 1400w I believe in quadfire but I wouldn't want to be running at the units limits.

It was sitting at typically 1000W in QuadFire and peaked at 1100W in worst case scenario, that's with my own testing using an energy genie to monitor wattage pulled.

Also.

I found the 1000W Platinum unit conked out around 1350W.

3 Gpus is the sweet spot unless you really have the resolutions and CPU power to get the most out of 4 GPUs, but what i have found is sometimes is the eye candy and AA levels is enough to choke 3 GPUs at times, i could not hold 60fps Vsync where as its smooth as butter on 4 GPUs.

Can anyone spec me what mini display port dvi adapters leads ect might need to join these up to my monitors, iv got 3 27 inch asus 1080p 60hz running as triple 1080x5760 monitors that have DVI,HDMI, dont think mini display port. I have a lightning too, so could drop that to the lower PCI slot on my z77 ud5. What i would need for such a setup? im currently using two DVI and a HDMI of the lightning.

I am waiting for 300 series card for 3 fire with my 295x2 and then hopefully upgrading to 4k
