AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

The momentum is with AMD. As of last month their gaming sales overtook Nvidia and unlike Nvidia it’s growing YoY where as Nvidia has gone off a cliff. I’m not sure why people feel threatened by this new card from AMD.

Threatened? No one is threatened, more just trying to understand how anyone can defend the 4080 let alone the 7900xtx at 1+K

Only cements the points made when your clutching at straws instead of conceding and moving on. Tiring hardon for nvidia, I mean some folk want to overlook the fact the prices are completely taking the ****.

There’s so many factors pushing prices up. Inflation, currencies, supply chain issues and demand for chips. I think it is also crazy prices but also know they aren’t going to come down ever.

If people voted with their wallet and didn't buy either, they would :) Just look at what amd had to do with their ryzen 7xxx cpus ;)

With inflation, 4080 should be no more than £850 at most and a 7900xtx no more than £800

So we now care about power efficiency again? ;)

I always have cared for this hence why I got my 3080 undervolted to .825 zipping less than 300w ;) For amd fans/rdna 2 owners, this was the one of the main reasons to be "pro amd" but for some reason since rdna 3 reviews, it does appear that it doesn't matter any more though

Prices are completely taking the mick. This might be the final GPU I ever buy. Conversely, that would mean the most expensive GPU I ever buy is also the best value.

There's some man maths for you!

Exactly, I find it odd the appeal to **** over the amd threads relentlessly especially defending the competition. If people think they are so good then go buy one - except we all know its pathetically overpriced and the reason why tiny amounts are being bought. We all know he's dying to get a 4080 and the 4070 plan backfired many moons ago. This is the problem when you tattoo yourself into the proprietary ecosystem - the more you buy the more you save right!

Well he can't talk about RT anymore because his 3080FE is RAM gimped!

100%. Found out Fred.

I’m not sure what proportion of the cost of the graphics card is the GPU and what profit margin they have on that (Nvidia overall margin was around 20%). The fact EVGA pulled out from Nvidia due to not profit margin means the manufacturers of the cards aren’t making much. That could be enlightening to how low they could bring the price.
