AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3D Cache Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - Go Go Go xD

Noob question but..
Why is there a bigger difference in performance ( average fps ) at 1080 than 1440p or 4K with this CPU when compared to a R5 3600 ?

I was looking at the system requirements for the new Phantom Liberty DLC which you can find here and noticed that they list the 7900x as a better cpu than the 7800x3d for this game.

However YouTube seems to suggest this is untrue. In general the 7800x3d is faster than the 7900x in games that are out today.

Anyway I wanted to see how the 5800x3d compares to a 7900x and found this table from tomshardware.com

Here it seems a 5800x3d is faster than a 7700x, 7900x and a 7950x in games.

Is this true?

It could be that the game takes advantage of the additional cores in 7900X. But generally the X3D CPUs are faster than the higher core CPUs as game engines tradtionally haven't scaled well with more cores.

As its still the same engine i would expect that if the 5800x3d was faster in base cyberpunk this will still be the case.

finally got on board :) just bought one, awaiting delivery. to say i'm pumped is an understatement - mostly about the 1% lows more than the fps

Yeah and certain more cpu intensive games you will see an improvement such as Assetto Corsa.

Make sure you get it running at 4450mhz, I assume you know how to do that ?

yeah, i'll play around with Kombo Strike once i've got it installed and given it a pre-offset run out :) thanks

slapped it in, played some games. smooooof. stuck prime95 on and sustained boost of around 4150 and 90C. Into the BIOS, combo strike 3, back to Prime95, sustained boost of 4449 and 84c. noice.

I'm attempting a ballsy case change so moving from cooling the 5800x3D with a Noctua D15s to cooling it with a black ridge (47mm height) cooler so it can fit in my new case.

I reckon with -30 on the core and using PBO2 tuner to limit the power I can get it to work but it might be a little toasty!
