AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3D Cache Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - Go Go Go xD

Could be seen as overkill but would keep my mind at ease.

At the end of the day, that Prime torture test is getting your system to crunch some numbers and comparing the results against known correct results. If its generating incorrect results to mathematical functions, then I'm not going to be happy its reliable.

Ignoring it is personal preference I suppose and depends what your risk appetite is like.

I want a 100% rock solid undervolt, so I'm not prepared to ignore it.

Stress testig isnt always the (only) way to go. At least classic testing like Prime and 3d Mark for mainly GPU benching.

I carried out hours of stability testing my 5800X undervolt, only for it to fall flat on its arse playing Warzone. I expect the undervolt was fine for stressing the CPU alone, but combined with GPU, RAM, sound and whatever else I had a complete system shutdown mid game.
This was only with the 5800X undervolted too

You can test every component all day long but that doesnt mean its stable when combined with x or xx

I guess a 100% stability test would be a 24 hour sequence that uses all components combined for maxium heat and power use... or Prime, Karhu and Port royal all at the same time!

I can see how some folk can go down a deep, dark hole with undervolting and testing each core to find the stable setting for each core.

If I was 20 years younger, with free time on my hands and living at home using my parents electricity, then I definitely would. :D

There's only a few cores to test, but yes its a bit time consuming.

RAM is another thing all together, once you get into timings, sub timings and voltage requirements for different settings it's another level. Makes CPU stress testing seem like childs play

I'll be joining this gang next week, can add the 3900x to 'list of things I need to get rid of' and then play with this undervolting malarkey!

Know that feeling. Been meaning to shift of lot of tech I've been hoarding but just don't have the time to. When I stuck my head up in the attic to get the decorations down it was looking rather full of relics fit for a science museum!

How common is it for people to get -30 on all cores? I got my 5800x3d 2 weeks ago and just did -30 off the bat and not had any issues. I have not extensively tested but ran OCCT a few times, 3dmark testing and played a few games etc. temps get to around 81 with room temp of 22c when running Cinebench and Prime95.

I'm running -30 with no issues so far. I've run a number of stress tests and games and seems to be stable. Same wth my son's PC "MSI A-Pro X570 and 5700XT GPU).

Not had any issues yet, ran Cinebench for an hour with no issues max temp of 73c that's stable enough for me.

I'm hoping the rainforest place has a dip in price as only just realised I've still got a £50 voucher from last Christmas that I've only added to my account now. May just get this now.

-26 is stable for me at the moment. Ran Prime small FFT overnight and 2 hours of gaming prior to that. Gives me confidence that it's stable.

Now i know -28 failed so do I try -27? To be fair, don't think it's going to make much difference so I'm just going to leave as is and enjoy my system now.
