AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3D Cache Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - Go Go Go xD

Did it go as low as £300? Damn
A fews ago it did, yep
Doubt I will be buying it at current price or price before, I think it would need to dip to £300~ before I seriously consider it now. Its not as if the 5800X is a slouch anyway and not causing me any issues. More of a new shiny shiny unneeded purchase really.
Didnt you have a £50 voucher to use, that takes it nearer to £300 :)

I’ll be selling my 5800X to part fund it, similar to what I did going 3080 > 3090 Ti. Think that cost me £190 after fees but can of course sell the 3090 Ti in future. The only other GPU worth having would have been the 4090, but that would have been 2 - 2.5x the price I paid for the 3090 Ti!

Is anyone running this chip on a smaller or older heatsink without throttling?

I'm tempted to replace my 3600x but have an ancient corsair h110i original aio. Which is a slimline(27mm) 280mm rad, can't fit anything bigger in the current case though. Not convinced it'll be able to keep up.

Think I saw them for 300 for a short while but 350 has been the price I've seen when checking.
Mine arrives today and will be running it with a Corsair H100i RGB PLATINUM if that helps? Can report back next week. But mine will be in a big Phanteks P500A with 3 140mm at the front and a 140mm at the rear. Also helps having a 4090 FE which runs much cooler than my old 2080ti!

I'm running an EK 240mm AIO and it seems to be fine.

Not surprised.
no one’s going to heavily discount a product that’s in high demand after a wave of good reviews.

The time to buy would have been at £300, but that was before all the shining reviews and info on PBOTuner2, Kombo strike and chip potential. I can’t see it coming down much lower that £339.99 any time soon.
Even used, second hand they sell for £330-£370.

I could be wrong of course if a load more were manufactured.

rather than pay £350, might as well pay the £265 extra and get a 7600x with shiny new mobo and ddr5, then just drop in a 7600x3d when it comes out

Mines on a Noctua nh-u14s with noctua fan behind it in push pull. Kombo strike 3 / pbo2 all -30 hits 80c max in Cinebench R23.

Phanteks case with 2x front 140mm fans and 1 exhaust 140mm fan. The 3 fans are locked at 42% and the rear pull fan has a low noise adapter.

How much is the shiny new motherboard and ddr5?

7XXX3D hasnt even been announced. Meanwhile the 5800X3D is faster in gaming than the 7600X and not far behind the 7950X.

Id rather sell my CPU now for the 3D whilst it still has a bit of value

I do but then that just brings it down to its actual price before sellers jacked it up.
Would rather keep my voucher I think.

7600x can be had for around £265, AM5 mobos can be had for around £220, 16gb ddr5 £70 so £555 for a new AM5 platform compared to £400 for just the 5800x3d OCUK is charging. So new platform for £155 extra that is future proofed

Im running the OG Corsair H100i, no issues at all.

Thats probably cheaping out on the low end AM5.
Id rather buy mid - high end which ive found holds its value better for resale in the future.
When 7800X3D comes out with reviews, i might do a full system upgrade. The 3090 Ti I have now is the bottleneck anyway, not the 5800X3D. Will probably end up getting a 2nd hand 4090 or wait for 5080 before upgrading the CPU, MB & RAM

I'm using the older H100i, no issues here. Make sure to use PBO Tuner and do the -30 offset on all cores, it also helps with temps as well as improve all core boosts, I'm seeing 4.45GHz all cores in some cases, really close to the 4.55GHz single core boost speed.
