AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3D Cache Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - Go Go Go xD

Hi sorry for little offtopic. I have an the same fps performance like 5800X3D on my 12900K on Cyberpunk 2077 with rtx 4090. On 1440P,DLSS QUALITY OR PERFORMANCE No difference,RT PSYCHO. is this ok? That cpus are comparable?

The chip wont boost past 4450mhz it seems to be hard limited.
Blck overclocking will change that.

Someones had 5ghz on blck overclocking and someone else 5.5ghz on an engineering sample with multiplier unlocked.

I wonder if the multiplier could be unlocked in bios / software if AMD change their minds in future (or if its hard locked on the chip)

Is it possible for games to feel smoother whilst fps is around the same or only a few more?

That seems to be the case for me going 5800X to 5800X3D.

Sort of similar going vsync to gsync. Fps can be the same but there’s other technology making it smoother.

Warzone 2 for example, looking out a window with a scope can drop fps to 70s or 80s in some areas but it still feels fine. 5800X it wasnt too bad as fos dropped, just not AS smooth. The best explanation can be 30fps vsync vs 30fps gsync. Gsync monitor was like magic.

So I managed to get 3600 14-15-15-15-30 working at 1.48v in BIOS. Not sure if that beats 3800 16-16-16-16-32. Probably a bit in latency but it was 1.4v before so seems like a lot of extra voltage for a minimal gain. Wonder what I could do at 3800 with 1.48v though. Will be something to find out on another night.

Anyone know if OCUK are giving away uncharted. The competitor who shall not be named (that sold FEs) was and other places as well so I assume OCUK would be as well...

I was going to pick up a 5700x for my sons Christmas to replace his 3600 but I'm considering getting a 5800x3d for him instead. He mostly plays FPS at 1080p 144hz with his 6700xt. Would it be worth it for him?

it's due to your minimum frame rate being a lot better with the 5800x3D. Because the difference between minimum and maximum is a lot closer, games seem a lot smoother. That extra cache also seems to make a bigger difference even if you have fairly slow RAM. This is game dependant.

Those of you with 3D and Cyberpunk, can you tell me if you can keep 60fps with RT Ultra and crowd density on high when walking and running through the marketplace behind Tom's Diner (very close to V's home, Digital Foundry always stress tested consoles there) ?

It is one of the few places where I get drops into fifties.

A few people have said this but i dont understand.
If the minimum is never lower than say 70fps on 5800x and also 5800x3d, why does the 5800x3d feel smoother?
Fps minimum is no less but thats the case with vsync & gsync, which feels totally different to each other.
Unless the game telemetry is just no recording true minimum which might be microseconds dropping to 0fps, causing the ‘stuttering’ / ‘hitching‘ / ‘jerking’

Looks like you have answered your own question. The reviewers call 99 percentile. I could well be the monitoring software not recording the hitches and frame drops. For me far cry 6 was a lot smoother. unless you are looking at the frame rate all the time you will miss it.
