AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3D Cache Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - Go Go Go xD

Look at the frame times, get a real-time grap going. An average fps figure hides so much
Thanks (and thanks @eeii )

That’s the thing, I never run anything like Riva tuner stats any more or anything with frame time which may show drops. I found in the past these were sometimes causes of fps drops so removed them all (When I did a full rebuild, I never installed any)

Is there any recommended monitoring software that has a frame time graph that wont interfere with anything?

…Though now things are buttery smooth i might aswell not bother

Not had any problems with msi afterburner. Please get this from official site as there are some nasty malware versions out there.

I run normal msi afterburner for GPU fan curve but in the past I had to run riva tuner stats server (with afterburner) for OSD stats.

I ran Riva tuner for years before realising it impacted some games.

Or does Afterburner no longer require Riva tuner stats server for OSD functions?

Nope other place has it and it's still advertised on AMDs site

I know i'm hammering on about this (apologies) but OCUK have it here with a bundle too

@Gibbo can you confirm please? You're shipping out Uncharted codes with the 5800x3d right? I'd hate to think i bought mine from the wrong place...

It still needs riva. I was using capframex for a while. It also uses Riva stats though.

Still waiting for this to be as low as it is in the EU....
Never going to happen. AFAIK before Brexit the price you'd see included VAT, after Brexit it's showing you the price without VAT (and customs duties).

Basically it only looks lower in the EU because you're looking at the without VAT price now we've left.

Obviously can't name stores but the price is inc. VAT and shipping, paid € is still cheaper than the UK equivalent site. This happens a great deal, I just picked up a set of headphones for £58.33 delivered, that were over £90 here. Perhaps you are just thinking of AMD's own online store page, which elxcludes VAT etc.

it's not - with a very cursorary search i've found it for 369,00 €, on a german website, including taxes - it's probably available for less elsewhere. That's £319 and you can't find it for much less than £350 here atm. Obviously that doesn't include import duty, but if you happen to take a holiday in europe you can bring items in worth less than £390 in your luggage without paying import duty. It's not a lot of money different but still, what you're saying isn't true.

Apologises, i should've been more specific and said import VAT not just VAT. (only just realised from having looked deeper that importing goods over £135 means we're getting taxed twice, once from the VAT applied to the goods where they're sold and a second time by HMRC).

At least i think that's how it works but having someone more knowledgable than me weigh in would be helpful as I've only been trying to work out the extra charges since Friday. :)

e: Done a bit more research and it seems it's very hit-and-miss, if where you buy it from is exporting it to the UK they shouldn't be charging local VAT (i.e it should show the without VAT price) as VAT will be charged when it's imported into the UK (import VAT). However it seems some retailers still add local VAT (possibly because they're not registered with HMRC so can't claim it back or something) so you end up paying both local and import VAT. Adding to the confusion is the under £135 thing where you don't pay import VAT but may or may not be paying local VAT.

2nd e: Using the 5800X3D as an example i would imagine when you see it listed in EU retailers for £300 they're not charging local VAT as that handily works out to be roughly £50 whereas EU retailers who list it as £350 are charging local VAT, and in both situations you'll be paying roughly £50 import VAT taking one up to £350 but the other up to £400.

@Gibbo can you confirm that UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection is included and how we go about claiming, please.

My experience from differing outlet. After dispatch received email, go to amdrewards.com, already had account (so register if need be), claim code, added Uncharted to my Steam account.

*** edit ***

TBH honest this was same process with OCUK on differing AMD CPU.

Can't PM you. :(

If what you say is true i imagine AMD would have something to say about it as they say OCUK are participating.
I was joking obviously, but nevertheless I would expect OCUK to honour the offer and if it is correct it has to be redeemed on AMD's website then thats great and maybe OCUK should be a little clearer on such offers to avoid upsetting customers
