AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3D Cache Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - Go Go Go xD

Quick question: can a good number of X3D's do -30 because they're 5800X chips clocked lower than the standard model allowing more leeway?

Mine can't do it.

Think I'm at -27 for all cores. I'm failing Prime torture test if I go lower. Now I could go into stress testing each core individually and might find that it's one or two cores that can't run at -30, but there was literally no difference in temps of performance between -30 and -27, so left it there. Besides, I don't have time for that faffing around :p

I did some testing of various PBO Tuner offset settings in Cyberpunk integrated benchmark at CPU limited settings, multiple runs, and to be honest, I am not particularly impressed:

avg/min/max
pbo 0

720p/RT ultra/dlss performance
125/50/172
123/52/170
123/52/174
122/53/172
119/50/166

pbo -20

720p/RT ultra/dlss performance

129/55/179
124/33/173
126/54/179
121/58/166
121/55/170

pbo -30

720p/RT ultra/dlss performance

122/59/173
121/56/170
123/47/175
123/52/170
123/54/175

Just out of interest, test on ultra but with RT disabled, PBO -30:

720p/ultra/dlss performance
176/74/243
185/64/257
183/69/271
184/56/256

Undervolt does not help in this game, at least on my PC. But temperature is lower by 4 degrees (70 vs 74 on default).

Tried also Cinebench R23 several runs:

pbo 0
multicore 14502 /14569 / 14538
singlecore 1474

pbo -30
multicore 14791 / 15000 / 14930 / 14984
singlecore 1470

In cinebench temperature dropped by 7 degrees (from 85 to 78 with PBO -30).
I am not sure if I should bother with setting up -30 via task scheduler, since in Cyberpunk there seems to be pretty much no difference.

I find PBO Tuner is only going to help when all cores are under 100% load. For me, it knocks 10c off when all cores are stressed at 100%, which helps keep all cores boosted to max possible GHz.

I find with gaming that the CPU is never stressed like it is with Cinebench or Prime, so you won't really see the benefit (apart from lower temps).

My Cinebench r23 multicore score is 11182 (should be near 15000). I think OCUK have sold us a dodgy batch without unchartered codes
I doubt there's a dodgy batch as AMD would've QC'ed them before leaving the factory so I'd start doing some sleuthing as to why your CB score is low.

As for the Uncharted codes that's on OCUK as they're still advertising that you get Uncharted with two CPUs (5400 and 5600) and six prebuild's so it looks like they still have codes, added to that is OCUK's owners are still advertising Uncharted codes with 5800X3D's.

That's it, the temps and boosting behaviour would be virtually identical. Mine may not 100% stable but as long as it's game stable I'm happy!

Yeah that makes sense. Just out of curiousity, if you have C77, could you also test those same settings and post results?

What is the temperature comparison?

sorry whats that?

edit: no I don't I'm still on windows 10 also
And you get toast popups from other things I'm guessing, because without some sort of error being thrown in PS and other toasts working I'm at a bit of a loss, when i installed the BurntToast module last night and tested things i got a notification to popup.

I guess you tried running the command in a PS session with admin rights and/or the currently logged in users right.

I did purchase it on day of release but quickly uninstalled it as it was a bug ridden mess. I know various patches have been released since launch that has resolved a lot of the issues, so I should download it again and give it another go.

Only problem is I'm addicted to MW2 at the moment!

Just got a similar email myself so it looks like it's been a busy BF/CM and they're working through the backlog. :)

Would've been nice to know there was a backlogged as it would've saved much consternation but i guess better late than never.

Oh man a major online retailer in Europe are doing the 5800X3D for 332EUR (£285)... should I just snap it up at this price or do people think it will fall further early next year?

I`d say that the price will drop early next year when the next gen X3D comes out but then there is the dilema whether you want to upgrade to 5800X3D or go the whole hog and go next gen.

Would you not have import costs and tax to pay on top of that?
No, it includes everything to my country including shipping and VAT.

EDIT - Screw it I ordered one.

A 5800x3D will cost 3-4x less than a full platform upgrade for likely 80-90%% of the performance of a 7800x3D at 4k and above resolutions. Plus no having to reinstall Windows and all your apps and games. I would rather save my upgrade energy for Zen5 which should be a true generational leap over the 5800x3D.

Exactly what I did. Already have a 3080 from last release just upgraded from a 3700x, which was still very capable for my needs. But extending the life of my AM4 with the 5800x3D was a no brainier. Not spending nearly £600-800 plus on new cpu, mb and ram.
