AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3D Cache Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - Go Go Go xD

Thanks. Just tested in stock and was getting video issues in Warzone 2, the screen kept going on and off

Set Combo strike to 1 and currently video is stable but getting some glitches in game play
Is it just Warzone 2 you're seeing this? I know when my PC isn't focused on that window initially there's some tearing etc. Something to do with full screen, borderless etc. But no such issues with the game when I'm properly focused on it and in game etc. Had this with my 5700X as well, definitely some issues in general with full screen etc with MW2/Warzone 2 and has been since launch. Probably more related to the game than anything else.

So set combo strike to 3 and still getting odd performance in MW2 and Warzone 2

Updated all my drivers, chipset, Nvidia etc

Reset shaders in game

The FPS changes a lot from 170 > 55 and get jumpy/jerky gameplay

Was fine with 5600X and was the only thing I changed

PSU is a 750watt seasonic platinum

Have you cleared cmos and or updated the bios ?

Is your RAM just running at XMP or has it any overclocks?

Just running a XMP profile at 3600

Guest2 (iirc) and me both had issues with COD and undervoltingthe CPU/high memory speed and low timings. I now run my 58003d stock with memory at xmp. I would suggest a couple of things. Load optimised defaults in you bios. Load into windows restart then load your XMP settings. Also try deleting (or moving) your COD config file. it should create a new one and hopefully adjust for your new CPU.

I have also turned off Accelerated GPU scheduling, and set Battle.net to close when I open COD. I also enabled Rebar with Nvidia Inspector. For whatever reason things felt smoother without DLSS/DLAA as well. (I realise I may be entering tin foil hat territory here though). The last drivers 528.49 weren't great for me either. Hope that helps.

I'll have a go now thanks. I did clear the BIOS settings last night and deleted COD and reinstalled but not tested yet. Do you run a XMP profile and undervolt the CPU -30 at the same time now ?

Also what issues did you have with COD ? Mine is very unstable in FPS for first 5 minutes of the game and then does become more stable. I ran the bench testing feature and looked ok to me

Im not sure I played with both undervolt and xmp at the same time, both made cod feel lumpy/laggy - going back to stock fixed that. When I run the benchmark with my 3080 im 99% GPU limited so just left it.

Undervolts did yield go results in 3dmark though. Though around -15 gave me the best results. There's also an issue with MSI motherboards under/over reporting TPU... the overclock forums for the x570 have a solution I haven't done (but need to do)

considering this cpu over my current 5800x to pair with my 4090 @ 4k purely for gaming , trying to play the last of us but stutter fest lol so moved to resident evil 4 & new world cant decide at moment if worth it.

If it's any help fenchu, I've moved from a 5700x. The difference in the lows are what makes a huge difference to me even on 4k. Also a very similar setup given I too have an RTX4090. You're still getting decent enough money for the 5800x moving it on, can't see the 5800X3D going cheaper or hanging around forever also. Personally for me, if you're happy with your setup but want to make sure you get the most out of it for years to come then it's the right move to make.

As it’s purely for gaming it really is worth it for 4090 class cards, that needs every bit of performance you can give it. I switched from the 5950x to the 5800X3D as I was being CPU limited and not only did I have much better lows in games like Far Cry 6 and the Division 2 I gained a good a 10 to 15fps on average in those two games just by swapping the CPU and this was at native 4K with all settings maxed. Amazing what a difference that extra cache does in quite a few games.

Even though the 5950x had 500mhz single core advantage and twice the cores in The Division 2 for example the 4090 in some scenes was struggling to make it passed 90% usage to hit my screen cap of 120fps, all I did was pop the 5800X3D in, same BIOS, windows and drivers and the GPU was now hitting 99% in the same scenes and reaching my set screen cap without issues.

If you sell the old CPU its a pretty cheap upgrade for a nice performance boost.

Just placed on order for a 5800X3D, upgrading from a 3900X with an Asus ROG Crosshair Hero VIII, and have the latest BIOS installed ( ver. 4402 ). What settings do I need to alter to get get the undervolt ? Would prefer to do this natively in BIOS since it's now included rather than download PBO2 tuner.

Go into advanced overclocking (if I remember right) and set PBO to whatever you want.

Would seasonic gold 550 Watts PSU be ok to 3060Ti & 5800X3D, 32GB Ram? Currently running a ryzen 3600

Swapped my 5900x for a 5800x3d last night. Haven’t done any tinkering yet but idle temps look solid which seem to confirm good paste and seating of cpu block.

Fired up cp2077 and gaming temps hovered around 53c. Will do some more testing later but not seeing a need to mess with PBO curves?
