AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

I really no understand people that want to pay over the top

I think the problem these days there far to many people out there that has more money then they know what to do with
Some buy a sports car instead of a family wagon and their wife leaves them with their kids...
I sit on a 7800x3d atm and its reaching 2 years old but still have yet to think i need more powa.
and funny enough back 20 years ago the Intel cpu cost more than current 9800x3d.
If Intel had this cpu they would charge easily £1000+

so in essence, its still relatively cheap for the best gamer chip

I just wait until after summer to upgrade, not in a hurry

I can't remember how much my PIII 800Mhz cost when upgrading from a Celeron 300A.
I wanted the 100Mhz fsb version for overclocking but after a month of paying and no stock I settled for the 133fsb one.

It hasn't been updated for some time. Nearly a year, I think.

That's a shame as I really like afterburner. What are the alternatives? I have only ever used Rivatuner and afterburner.

Also years ago when I had a 5950x I remember using a program where you could test each cores individually after setting what negative offset. I can't remember the name of the program. Does anyone know the name? When I got time I am going to go through the cores one by one.

Got two kits of a-die and they are both fairly cheeks :p My old one struggles to do anything at 8000 loose timings but managed 8hrs of karhu at 6600:2200 CL28. The newer kit struggles at 6600CL28 but manages 8000:2000 CL36 - I am struggling to get CL34 remotely stable though

I did warn you my brother about buying dem crappy a die bins. :p

Best CPU to pair with 4090? Ideally don't want to spend much. Or better waiting until next gen?
9800X3D at the moment but it can possibly change with 9900X3D or 9950X3D

more and more people are gaming at 1440p or 4k these days so this CPU can likely last quite a while without needing it upgraded as well so its probably worth the investment

Wait a few months for prices/availability to settle. Prior to the release of the 9800X3D, the 7800X3D represented the best price/performance proposition but its cost has risen sharply due to lack of 9800X3D availability. If it were to settle back down into the £300-329 range again then I'd say get that, otherwise get the 9800X3D. The 9800X3D is better, but not by much especially if you are gaming at 1400p or 4K. Whatever you choose you're going to have upgrade to the AMD5 platform, which means new mobo, RAM ... so not cheap.
