AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

You answered your own question  9950X3D will be the flagship (best) CPU for overall use. Hugely faster in productivity (applications) than the 9800X3D, thanks to double the cores. Faster in some games, same speed in the rest.

Also likely to overclock better, since AMD bin the dies and give the best performing dies for the 9950X3D.

9950X3D also better value, since you're getting double the CPU (double the cores) without a doubling of price, assuming 9950X3D has the £749 launch price of the 7750X3D.

Many have paid £550+ for a 8 core 9800X3D, a 16 core for ~ £200 more is a better deal to many.
You're forgetting the inter ccd latency and the hassle of having to disable 8 cores every time you want to play a game.

In search of better VR performance I just decided to just upgrade my 5800x3D rig to:

- 9800x3D
- MSI x870E Tomahawk
- Corsair Vengeance 2x 32GB PC6000 CL30 EXPO

Managed to get it all for the equivalent of £890 (non-EU) which is ok as this will last me another 2-3 years like my 5800x3D did, with the added bonus that Zen6 will also be AM5 when it arrives so there should be no need to swap mobos for a while.

I have a Noctua Noctua NH-D12L and assuming that will do the job to cool the beast!
I think right to do. I sold my 5800X3D just before Christmas. I got very close to what I paid for it. Just having a look now quite a few recent sales of >£300, some even in the region of £350/370. Which seems nuts to me.

Yeah right

I have a 4090FE and please don’t think I’m suggesting your decision to splash some cash at a CPU is a wrong one. Each to their own as long as you are happy. In my eyes the upgrade isn’t big enough for me and the games I play.

Yeah right

Completely fake benchmark, many YouTube channels with fake benchmarks, for click baits…

Look at something like Hardware Unboxed or Gamer Nexus for legit testing.

You can easily tell just by looking at the GPU load in that video, it shows the same 95-99% GPU load yet double the fps with a 9800X3D, despite the GPU being the bottleneck. Which is just flat out impossible when GPU bound, if the GPU is already under full load and is the limiting factor a CPU upgrade would give pretty much no boost to performance in that situation.

C'mon guys, have you still not figured out these videos are fake?
