AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

I wouldn't over think it too much (I'm coming from the same CPU). 9800x3D is £450 for the best gaming CPU (and two extra cores for us) and at this rate of progress will likely last at least 5 years. 390-500 isn't that much more of a premium to pay from the 7800x3D price IMO.

There is something psychologically damaging about gaming at 4.x ghz vs 5.x ghz if you went 7800x3D from our 5.4ghz 7600x.

I'm getting the 9800x3D to go with a 5090 as well. Just sold my 4090 for £1700 earlier this week. :D

Both this CPU and a 5090 are costing me around £600 combined after selling the current parts.

Bloody hell, how did you manage to sell a 4090 for £1700 Lol!

It's the 4090 fe which has held its value really well, been one of the best technically and also the smallest profile. Nvidia stopped making them a few months back as well, which only raised the prices. Best part is no fees where I sold it anymore!

Someone hasn't done the home work :) I guess you almost got your money back
In what sense? I'm aware it's likely January or beyond (if unlucky against bots etc). I was planning to just use my integrated graphics in the mean time, but I see someone just mentioned the Steam Deck which is pretty tempting!

I've essentially had two years max setting gaming for free. I have been of the opinion it's better to stay at the top than let the parts depreciate. From a 7600x and 4090fe to a 9800x3D and a 5090 for £600 (if 5090 is 2k).

As we get closer to launch the market will get flooded with 40 series IMO, hence the early sale.

Oh right sorry I thought you meant from my perspective. Yeah I mean if you really want a 4090 fe that's kind of the price, for 3 months extra gaming and no doubt 300 off a 5090 (I can't see it been less than 2 grand, given the leaked spec). I get the sense it may be a business use as well.

I'm sure it will go down in value soon once more people list.

Personally I think they look the most adult. Component wise they are in the top three. Also the small form factor for small case builds and of course price etc. I think my 5090 will likely be a FE.

Same. for me I care nothing for other tasks. just gaming in the evening and maybe weekends. number of cores means nothing to me.
I must admit I was always 8 cores to match the console, but using a 7600x I have been incredibly impressed (playing at 4k). Runs so low power (65w) and boosts to 5.4ghz.

Shout out to my ex (processor) you really were the man.

I haven't seen any updates in here, so apologies if I missed it, but was on the phone to OCUK today and the CS rep on the phone confirmed the product page for the 9800X3D will go live "Around 2pm" on Thursday BUT he couldn't guarantee they will have any stock and it might just be a pre-order.
That would explain why no one from the shop has commented on it. :(
