Poll: AMD Screws Gamers: Sponsorships Likely Block DLSS

Are AMD out of order if they are found to be blocking DLSS on Starfield

  • Yes

  • No

So developing new features that require new hardware is anticonsumer?

What about your monitor? It’s not HDR rated, yet it should display HDR? Or your car, maybe it should get AC when you didnt buy a car with AC?

You can complain all you want, just make sure what you’re complaining about actually makes sense.

Edit; also you said it yourself. You’re not happy with DLSS or FSR. You think they’re not good enough. Well, without the hardware solution that is DLSS3 you’ll get something like FSR3 ( which just like FSR upscaling, will be worse than DLSS). And considering you seem to be very hard to please, even if nvidia gave you a version of DLSS3 that wouldnt need hardware to run, you’d be unhappy with it, bash it and not use it anyway. So what is the point?

Yes I don't like either because it's degradation of image quality.

But calling out hypocrisy is required in your case, you have an nvidia card and you spent a lot of money in it expecting premium treatment and now you're not.

I've answered yes to the poll, and if the situation was reversed, and Nvidia were found to block FSR, I'd answer yes to that also.

Ah, we've got a poll now too?

Well, I voted yes they are out of order as this would be a bad move all around.

I'm quite aware that NV have always played dirty. Very dirty.

However, I don't think that means others should play like that and I want less of this kind of thing not more.

This.

People essentially giving AMD a pass because Nvidia do it so why can't AMD. Poor poor AMD.

I always felt Nvidia were dirty money grabbers, but AMD are not much better. They pretend to be, but look what they are like with such small percentage of the market share. Imagine what they would be like if they had 80% market share. You can already see how greedy they got with AM5 CPU's.

I used to see them as the underdogs and somewhat consumer friendly, but they ain't your friend.

Such is the nature of polls. You get to vote only for the results that the poll maker chooses. If you are not reflected in the options available then that's the nature of polls :)

I'm still dying to hear what the developers think about this.

Any contract involves at least two parties and we know that developers who are unhappy will snitch. Yet I'm not hearing any snitching.

I still see AMD as the lesser of two evils.

This is crap, but then Nvidia would do it too and you know it.

I bought a 6950XT today because of it. Dead Island 2 only has FSR, my 2080Ti can't cut it at real 4k, FSR crashes the inventory to desktop, and so realising the same will likely happen to Starfield I got the 6950XT.

As much as I feel dirty I don't feel filthy. £620 is the cheapest high end GPU I have bought in years. And I mean, YEARS. The Titan Maxwell cost me less, but from the Titan XP on (I paid £675 for mine a month after it launched) every other high end GPU I have bought has cost me more. £1500 for the 2080Ti, £700 for the 6800XT Strix LC B grade, and so on. I would rather buy the GPU I know will serve me better, and that seems to be AMD. And yeah, not happy about all this but Nvidia have done far worse, and I would rather AMD spend my money on stuff like this than it going into Jen's champagne bath.

The poll is interesting

HUB is supposed to be a mainly pro amd fan base, but their Twitter poll showed nearly 80% of users hate it that AMD is blocking dlss. But here only 60% disapprove and 40% support AMD

Blocking a feature is never good but its not even proven that they are. The upscaling feature that AMD has in this game is usable by almost every gamer that has ancient gpus. Nvidia if they do it locks out a huge percentage of not only AMDand Intel but there own users as well. Its a night and day difference. If its as is Matt says that to have DLSS Nvidia get there logo on a game that AMD has sponsored then DLSS shouldnt get a look in. Nvidia should forfeit that right and maybe DLSS would be in the game. Nvidia want something without investing it just dont make sense.

What are you even saying. Premium treatment?

I spent money for features and i should be content with AMD interfering and blocking me from using my GPUs full potential? And if not im a hypocrite? I can’t even.. i don’t…

Well, if that's how they have worded their poll (assuming it's not been altered by your translation), if you consider that HUB's argument as they presented it is nothing but speculation to a hastily jumped conclusion, and therefore any rational voter should consider this currently an unsubstantiated clickbait rumour at best, then those 80% voting in favour of that statement have disqualified their opinion.

So we don't need to consider them at all, very helpful of them.

Perhaps Nvidia should have put some of that money you passed their way to good use and sponsored the game in question then, simple. :p
It's clearly Nvidia's fault, they really should do better and not get in the way of their own users....

Can see what iv been watching today, flooding my recommended feed now lol:

lol that guy thinks the 4060 is the best $300 card for 2023

DLSS if I recall takes a lot more work to implement so of AMD are doing this it is only so their customers whether it be console or pc are better looked after. Granted we don't want either to be holding the other back but I feel if DLSS is implemented it takes up more than the fair share of devs resources to do so.

Maybe nvidia should make their stuff open source?
