What I want to see is how much the quad channel RAM would affect the infinity fabric.

Since we know that dual sided dual channel ram shows greater performance output than single sided RAM on the "normal" Ryzen lineup.

Does it?

What benchmarks/reviews highlight that difference? Interested to see.

$799 - 12C/24T

Yes the 1800x is £500 and the 1700 is £300 but i can overclock the 1700 to 1800 performance. So it would be great if they make a slower 12c/24t on the cheap that i can dabble with. Of course i'd be expecting this for £600. Which i would then match with the cheapest X390 mob at around £230 - so total cost £830. Rather than a top x370 with an 1800x at £740

I think a few of the chips have dropped quite a bit below MSRP.

So they have, i hadn't checked the prices since i bought my 1700. I Thought i got quite the deal at £300. But i see it's dropped to £291. I imagine the 1800x has come down so much because everyone realised an overclocked 1700 offered so much better value.

It certainly looks a lot more like Intels -e platform, I'm going to have a good read on what we now know tomorrow as I'm hoping there will be more than just a 16 thread cpu, a 10 or 12 core model would also be worth considering, especially if it can match the Ryzen 5 & 7 ipc performance.

Speaking of pcie lanes if anyone can link me to some good reading material on the 16 lane mainstream limit and motherboards that add extra lanes (I think that's possible) it would be appreciated.

Wait? what if? Its the same core - it will have the same IPC performance as Ryzen 5 and 7 - now if you meant speed that be the real question; but as we're seeing samples of Naples at 3.6.....I'd say most likely Threadripper will also match 5 and 7 speeds - as they all have the same IPC......;)

Very nice.

Is the 1800X going to be flagship AM4 for a while?
Until Zen+ most likely.

I'll be sticking with my 5820k for a while and see what happens AMD's side with CPU's, these would be monsters for rendering out video.

I think I'm more interested in seeing the IPC boost with Zen+ though, or are most expecting small gains there?
I believe AMD already identified improvements they could make to the Infinity Fabric, which does seem to be a slight bottleneck at the moment. I wouldn't expect huge gains, probably 5-10% depending on the scenario, but bear in mind that they might also be able to improve clock speeds with a more mature 14 nm process. Couple those together and they might offer a nice jump.

If Zen+ can come out next year with an overall 10% gain. Be that through overclocking headroom with some IPC gain then I'd be happy. But given how some people have reacted with intels gains of the last few years. I'd expect many people to be happy with 15% minimum ;)

You have forgot the asterisk saying using Sysmark. :p
