AMD To Launch RV770 On June 18th

So if the 4850 performance scales into games its as fast as a 9800gtx which is not to bad performance for the rated price. We still don't know if any of these benchmarks are true though.

If the 4850 is as fast as a 9800GTX it will be an amazing purchase... considering the 9800GTX can handle 99% of games with ease. Crossfire will become a viable and powerful solution if the price is good.

That is only at stock as well, I wonder how much overclocking headroom these have...if they can do 900+mhz easily like the 3850 then they will be even better bang/buck.

It's also interesting how the 4850 has such a massively higher SM3 score in comparison to the 9800GTX

Yeah but we have seen that before haven't we? High 3dmark06 scores but not the matching performance in game framerates?

Always get shafted over prices here. There prob selling them for $5 dollars each in India, where the government subsidise general purchases ;)

But seriously, the dollar to pound conversion doesn't work out the way you hope it will when you buy electronics products in the UK :(

Hence I didn't do straight $ > £ I added on VAT as well.

Of course there'll no doubt be a bit more added on top, but I don't think it'll be a million miles away from the £200 mark.

Especially as the 4850's will be going for ~£130 and they are essentially the same card minus GDDR5.

so the GTX280 appears to be within spitting distance of the 9800GX2 on what I guess are early drivers?

Its impressive but its not £450 impressive when you could get a more powerful card for £300... interesting!
