AMD To Launch RV770 On June 18th

Well the Vantage results which have been released elsewhere for the 4870 tie in with the Vantage results seen on the dodgy Chinese site.

So I have reason to believe it is infact the 4870 and also ties in with ATi's original official claim that they will only be competing with the 9800GTX, they haven't officially stated otherwise.

In which case it's time for ATi to ship up and ship out :p

Tom if this does indeed prove to be true I will be a tad disappointed with Ati! Could it be a case of a new architecture on the chips which is also inefficient?

Lol we are benching the ?. A lot of rubbish if you ask me. Why won't they say which card they are benching they would probably be breaking the nda even with the stupid question mark so why not just say which card it is.

Compare these Vantage results (Extreme)

http://www.nordichardware.com/news,7809.html

with the Extreme results from the chinese site.

They are identical. The chinese site is benching the 4870 I'm almost 100% certain..

I believe they are still on the VLIW (Very long instruction word) architecture so it still proves inefficient as before. The AA performance seems a lot better though as I believe AA is "fixed" on these cards.

Cool pic up on radeon-graphics.net

as for benches, I will wait until some are posted with pictures of the actual card plugged in, and written correctly, done correctly, and hopefully in English before believing.

"UNLEASH ONE TERA"... One Terra what? Monkey?.... Terraflop or not that dont mean **** if it performs like some of my ex's ;)

They do seem around the same but then compare 3870x2 results there x2 reults are way higher than on the nordic site. Can't have it both ways. It could well be the 4850 as in the nordic site they say the x2 is slower than 4870 in vantage.

Well that had better be the case, though a day does not go by that the 9800GTX at certain prices is tempting me a bit! THere seem to be a lot of price drops on that card now.

Just wait for the proper reviews upon release, but if thats true, then oh dear.:(

If that is right, then the X2 should just about scrape past the 9800 GTX. :D

I'd just like to point out you're basing all this on some very shady looking 3Dmark Vantage benchmarks that don't even give the full score or so much as a system specification.

by a chineese website referring to the card as "?" none the less.

More 'dodgy' Chinese results. (I've combined the two results btw)

3dmark06 scores look very cpu limited. The 280 and 260 dont do much better than the 9800gtx.

If true, i can imagine people complaining that the new gpus dont do much better at 1280*1024 than their old cards.

Also a shame they picked Lost Planet and COJ. Both known to perform a lot better on nvidia or amd cards.

From what i can see from that site is that in wic and cow the 4870 is faster than all current nvidia cards. Seems to suffer in lost planet though. Not to bothered about the benchmarks its gaming benchmarks i want to see. If i had a gx2 looking at those reults i would not be upgrading to a gtx 280.

I know fine well what I'm basing my judegements on thanks. I just have a gut feeling it's actually true. The vantage scores seem to tick in with all the other vantage results on the web.

ATi have said themselves the 4870 is only meant to compete with the GTX everything else has been pure speculation. So there is a good chance those results are genuine as they tie in with ATi's claim.
