AMD To Launch RV770 On June 18th

These cards have me tempted to get a crossfire capable board (well, to crossfire 2 x 4870 anyway), but I know it will be a waste as I just enjoy gaming on my 360 these days. Since getting the 360 I have only once touched my pc games and that was for about half an hour...

Personally, I can't see the point in combining 4850/70 with 3850/70, as it would surely hold the new cards back. And from having tried crossfire on a P35 before with the 4X PCI-E slot, I really hope nobody would consider doing that to these new cards.

Crossfire doesn't work that way. They can be different cards and you can set different clock speeds unlike SLI.

So the 3850/3870 will add to the 4850/70 speed. I've seen a link somewhere showing that a 3870 + 4850 upped the 3dmark by 3000 points. Okay not a lot and a way short of two 4850's but still a boost of about 25% over the 4850 card.

And maybe good enough to warrant not getting rid of the 3850/70 for the little money you will get for it.

3870x2 plus 4850/70 would be a pretty good result.

The hardocp review should be interesting, gonna be another massive flame fest on the forum due to their different method of reviewing cards. Be interesting to see who has the edge in aa\af this time around with that program they use. Not sure what its called but the tighter the circle it produces the better the quality.

i think a lot of etailers are trying to dump stock of 3800 range of cards, if the 4850 are so awsome at £140.

maybe thats why 4850 not on sale yet.
