AMD To Launch RV770 On June 18th

What an brilliant launch.

Even a couple of shops on the bay have started to sell the cards.

Well done ATI I must say. If OcUK had put these up today at a decent price they could have made a killing and left their competitors wondering why the never did the same.

:D What You guy's may not have picked up on Yet is that little card has just wiped millions of the GFX card market both new and second hand :D

Looks like AMD were out to prove a point about AA superiority since that appears where the card is strongest in.

Yeah, just been looking at the Techpowerup results (as the scores are up now), and once you slap the AA on, the 4850 leaves the 8800/9800 GTX in the dust, well done ATi. :D

But is the NDA for information or sales/informatio ?

So, if :

4870 = 1.2 x 4850;
4870 ~ 260 GTX
Assuming the 280 GTX is around 30% faster than the 260 GTX, and the CF is scaling at around 60% (conservative), then that makes 4870x2, 25% faster than the 280, at $150 less. The mind boggles with possibilities! :)

Guys i need help lol,

I am hanging on for these ATI cards

I want to Crossfire (dunno which obviously til real-life people bench etc)

I have abit ip35 pro and a 8800gts 640, Will i need to get another mobo ?? to fully utilise 2 cards in crossfire ?

Roll on ATI :)

Many Thanks

Ciao

Yeah and if you have a 3870x2 already just add a 4870x2 or two 4870's for tri-crossfire and your flying!

As CoD4 is pretty much the only game I play at the moment, this benchmark is the most interesting to me...and look at where the 4850 stands! :D weeeeeeeeee

I think so, as the second slot on those only runs at 4x, which would hamper performance.

And with the performance of these cards, the bandwidth will have increasedas well.

Get a cheap p45 board since although the run both slots at 8x speed, they are pci-e 2 slots so effectively they both run at the same speed as your pci-e 1 16x slot.

Or go the whole hog with a x38/48 board.

Put it this way, Until a week ago the 8800GTX could not be considered anything other than top end single card, to gain around 7fps at high res with AA is astounding with what is not much more than an entry level GFX card ;)
