It's not "that late" really... Nehalem mainstream parts aren't due for ages yet, and from what I do hear when they do overlcocking will be locked down except on the "omgextreme" parts. I'm planning on getting an X48 + Q6600 soon and having that do me for a year or so. :)
 
I'll wait for the dust to settle me thinks much 2nd hand bargains to be had soon then so if it's £130 that means 9800gtx etc will be going for under £100 second hand cool.
 
lol it's a great time to upgrade imo... Q6600's are dirt cheap, OC to hell and back, 4GB DDR2 is almost given away, and the X48's will make a crossfire setup scream. If you just get the cheapest you can find and source off of MM you will have a monster rig for a good while to come. I wouldn't put off upgrading because of Nehalem for a good while yet. :)

See how the 4870 gets on next week. It's nice to know that I can upgrade to two 4850's and a motherboard for still a wedge less than the 280.

Unless of course NVIDIA surprise everyone next week and drop the 280 to 300 but that won't happen.
 
Tom just calm it and wait a week or two until 4870 is released, we know all there is to know, and stock more available at all the Etailers... there's no need to rush into anything.

Well I just got an X1900XTX in today to tide me over the extra. So that's helped things

The 7200GS was driving me mad. X1900XTX Bargain at £30 as well. Forgot how capable these cards actually are! has no problems running Mass Effect @ 1680x1050 maxed. No AA you'll understand and there are some weird lighting problems but hey better than Solitaire :p
