I've just spotted something on the chart i posted, i made a mistake, i highlighted the 5600X at 4.7Ghz (Time 21.1 Minutes)
The stock time is actually 22.2 Minutes, this compared with the 10700K at 20.4 Minutes, that makes the 10700K 8% faster in MT.
The 10700K was $80 more expensive, used more power, while the 5600X was more often than not faster than the 10900K in gaming.

If we aren't going to say anything about the price of the 10700K at the time then the 5600X was very reasonably priced, it was a much better CPU.

I got a cheapo 2nd hand 10700KF, so the price of the 5800X just wasn't appealing. Went with 10700KF cause more cores = Brum, am i rite?

Oh yeah, I also wanted support for DDR4 running at 4000 MT/s.

Zen 4 should be a very nice upgrade for anyone who still has a quad core CPU (so 7th gen Intel, 8th gen to a lesser extent).

The 10700K or KF in your case was by no means or measure a bad CPU, it was a good CPU, a very good CPU, and if you got one cheap, brilliant.

I was in the market at the time, the 5800X out classed the 10900K in just about every conceivable way, i paid £440 for it, today that seems insane, but the 10900K was £500, at the time the 5800X just looked like a high end CPU, while the 5900X and 5950X just seemed like excessive E-Peen, like a gold leaf wrapped Lamborghini, excessive to the point of being vulgar.

I'm sat on a 6700k itching to upgrade and it's looking like Zen4 is the gonna be the way.

Haven't touched AMD since the Socket 939 days.
Same I think for me. I think the last AMD CPU I bought was an Athlon X2 (released 2005 and 2006). I think it was the first multicore CPU I've owned too.

It will have been, owning to the fact that the Athlon X2 was the worlds first multicore X86 processor :D

I had one too, Athlon X2 5200+. My mother inherited it and was still using it, daily, with the overclock in place up until last year.

I don't like quoting MLID because he is wrong as often as he is right and refuses to accept when he's wrong.

But he is much more right about CPU's than he is GPU's, he said AMD and their Motherboard partners are already sending out samples to reviewers.

I’m coming from a 4670k stock lol

Oh crap if true, i hope they arn't this expensive

Just retailers scamming early buyers. But I'll be skipping for a few months if prices truly are nuts.

No **** Sherlock (to MLID) of course they are we didn't need MLID to say that, people getting boards already posted photos of x670e boards on Twitter a week ago

I don't think the X670 boards will be worth it. It sounds like the cheapest boards will cost £250-£300 on launch.

I think most people will be better off waiting for the B650/B650E boards. AMD doesn't seem to want any details about these to be known though, not so different to Intel in this regard. So, probably a deliberately delayed launch for the mid end boards.

Some B650 boards will probably support DDR5 speeds upto 7000/8000 MT/s (and still support PCIE5 for storage and GFX for B650E), so it will be interesting to see if the X670 chipset boards have any really significant advantages.

EDIT - Another possibility is that B650E boards don't exist at all, despite rumours. AMD hasn't mentioned them. Not having PCIE5 for gfx probably isn't the disadvantage that some ppl may think, but might cost a few frames with high end next gen cards.

No mention of the B650E chipset on the Wiki page for AM5 either:

I find it unlikely and odd that they would choose to announce the B650E chipset at a later date.

AM 5 boards feature a lot of new tech so were never going to be cheap but I'm supprised at the prime P being 500 euro although this is only one retailer so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I also wouldn't be supprised if it was just X670 for a while with B series arriving a few months later.

Nothing at all can justify those costs. They are insane to even be suggested at those prices by at least 50% !! The previous ROG Crosshair Extreme by comparison was £750 and at time also brought lots of new tech etc with it.

Seems moved to Intel priced mobo and some now since the Intel version of that board is £1050/€1250.

Edit: With the fact that DDR5 & PCIE 5.0 is established by Mobo manufactures because of Intel had hoped to see there be a middle ground at least where for instance that top mobo would be more like £850/€1012
