Indeed but you can get LOD real-time textures that can be set seamless and random that would work fine. There for instance is a plug in for UE4 even that did that and would work. I also use it for rendering materials in the 3D models I produce.

Yeah, there are plug-ins for UE but you can also do it yourself by building a signed distance based texture layering, like i've done here....

Its easy to say be who knows if that would actually work on a planet. :)

See that ^^^^ no tiling. :D

I'm thinking of recommending this board to my dad (who hasn't built a new system in ~12 years), it's rumoured to cost ~$250, which is about what I expected less expensive x670 boards to cost.

I may or not not recommend that he waits for B650 boards to release, depending on the announcement at the end of this month.

It looks like it will support an add in card, to easily add USB4 support at some point after release (which he seems keen on). It's more than what I would pay, but he wants something pretty high spec. The VRM + heatsink looks suitably high end.

What do you guys think?

Looks really good, well specked and its Gigabyte.

Thanks.

I just noticed that the GIGABYTE X670(E) AERO D has 2 USB 4.0 rear ports and seems to be priced at $300-$400 depending on whether you get the model with PCIE5 graphics or not.
This seems like a good bet, in terms of simplicity.

Also, wondering if we are going to run into voltage limits soon on DDR5, the spec for the XPG Caster RAM suggests a voltage of between 1.25v-1.45v:

Presumably, 1.45v is required for stability, running the modules at 7000 MT/s?

What limit?

What Insomniac did with Spiderman on PS4 is far more impressive a technical achievement than anything CiG have shown on PC hardware.

Shipping a certified retail title is also worlds away from tech demos/alphas.
