They're not claiming its better than volta, maybe they know something going on with volta that we don't hence the "poor volta" sign. For all we know there's problems with volta that amd have gotten wind of and they just took this chance to put in a dig at it.

I think I'd much more prefer if AMD would focus on themselves for a while instead of taking cheap shots at NVidia. Reminds me of a slimy politician, really poor show.

Always a possibility the card they are showing is small Vega. AMD should take a leaf out of Nvidia's book and launch the small cards first rather than reveal their fastest card first.

My memory is a bit fuzzy, so I could be wrong but I thought NVidia released 1080 first and then it was 1070, 1060 and the rest.

Think they said only big Vega is at a useable functional state of development right now - though that doesn't mean it is the full configuration - it could be their intention to drop one card between the 1070 and 1080 (which is the one being demoed) and another above the 1080.

But it's a weird poke to take considering Volta is supposedly still around a year away. As i said its possible they know something we don't, might just be marketing bs but an odd stab to take at something that's a possible 12 months plus away.

I dunno why people so often forget what AMD has done historically - their marketing has always been of this style yet every time its like people are experiencing it for the first time all over again.

Could be the whole reason why the power is covered by duct tape

Last time was with the 4850 which was ok and then boom the 4870 came out £190 and blew the gtx 260 away.
