Nice first post. Stick with helpful posts like this and never quote wccftech and you will do fine :p
Thanks. i only stumbled across this thread yesterday while looking for news about vega. I must admit i dont understand a lot of what people are talking about as i only built my first pc in January and have a lot to learn. I think my first choose gpu was a good one £239 for xfx fury instead of a 1070 which was £400 at the time. I now want a gpu card upgrade that will play all games at 4k 60fps im hoping vega will do that.

Am sure he buying a VEGA GPU! He has 476 posts in this thread, who posts that much in a VEGA thread if they have no interest in buying? :D :p
Not only does he post, he goes out of his way to spam wccftech fake news links :p

If one is desperate enough to visit that site for news on an daily basis, then one is certainly very interested. I conclude he is panting for Vega :D

+1
Especially on not quoting WCCFTech, I'm sure folks remember the clickbait lies they posted before the Polaris launch. Like the early NDA date that never happened.

Same, though I am wary of a possibility that Vega might not be able to do that. In which case I'll be waiting until a card that does. Saying that, the Fury is a good card, especially for £240. If Vega doesn't deliver, it would tide you over much better than most options. Do you have a FreeSync monitor? It pairs well with a Fury. If you don't, it might be a worthy purchase on the off chance that Vega disappoints.

Or if you can't get one... (fingers crossed they won't be as hard to find as Fury was at its launch, 20k units doesn't seem too bad for a high-end GPU)

Every time I see someone post that Vega needs to beat the 1080Ti or else it shouldn't be launched, I always picture a parent at the infant school sports day:
"Yes, little Timmy, I know you ran the 100m in 20 seconds which is 5 seconds better than you've ever managed it before, but Usain Bolt did it in 9.89 seconds so frankly I don't know why you're even bothering. You need to give up trying, it's just embarrassing!" :D

(Yes, I am very aware the analogy is nowhere near accurate, but it always pops into my head each time so thought I'd share.)

Very true.
I just hope Vega is fast and at a better price to performance point than Nvidia. That is good for everyone. Having said that I do hope it's 4K capable and affordable! (Don't we all)

Absolutely agree. I am looking for a single GPU that is affordable and at 4K is as fast as my current 290's when Crossfire is working properly (so will be a nice boost in those games when multi-GPU doesn't work). Keeping my fingers crossed, along with everyone else. :)

For me its 2 things, one I want team red to succeed and market competition. And two personally I want an AMD card that will do 1440 on high/ultra consistently for the next few years to replace my trusty r290. So fingers crossed.

With the £ getting stronger bringing pricing down on products it would seem that Nvidia are using the opportunity to get the 1080ti`s a bit lower in price on top of the currency improvements so perhaps AMD do have a good card in the pipe.

Why are you convinced of this? Genuine question, curious of peoples opinions.
Yea, wondering the same. We do not have enough data to come to this conclusion, if anything in my opinion the oposite is more true.

The only reason to think big Vega will be 1080 performance or less is you just look back at Polaris. Before that AMD have always managed to be close or beat Nvidia. Vega is very late so it should easily bring 1080 performance, but I expect 1080Ti performance at least on AMD games from big Vega.

I'm hoping to "go 4K" by the end of the year. I've been saving £100 a month for a year now and will have £1700 by November. Should be easily enough for a 4K IPS panel and whatever the "latest GPU" is. Be that Vega or 1080Ti. Looking forward to it! Should have enough left over to get a CPU and mobo upgrade next year (if needs be). So glad I started religiously saving because I would never have had the capital to do it otherwise.

I think what *most* people want is simply a noticeable jump in performance for the $$$. A year after Nvidia has released Pascal, simply 'matching' them on performance without a substantial improvement in price makes nobody happy and just wastes everybody's time who isn't a diehard AMD loyalist.

That said, there are a number of people who want more power. 1080Ti is basically to 4k gaming what a 970 is to 1080p gaming. Quite good, but doesn't leave much headroom for maxing settings in many cases. And of course games will get more demanding. So nine months after the Titan X was released, I understand them wanting to see AMD push the envelope instead of simply occupying performance ranges that Nvidia have basically had covered for the last year.

Either way, I hardly ever read anybody saying that Vega needs to *beat* a 1080Ti or be worthless. I feel like you're exaggerating a bit.
