As it stands yes. But come Volta, I'm pretty sure Nvidia will be well on top of DX12 and probably the ones leading the development.
If buy a 1080 at £500 and decide to sell it on for £150 as a one off loss-leader. Does that mean Vega will have to cost £100? lol
We pay 20% VAT here in the uk don't forget that so it wont be exchange rate price

Leaving no product between the RX580 at $250 and RX Vega Super at $500 ? Seems unlikely. I think AMD will have to knock another $100 off those prices.
We need to see what is what really but a complete neutral will generally look at what performs better for the money he/she is going to spend. If Vega is cheaper and performs the same, that should be the winner and the price comparison will be "what is available", so if there is a 1080 from that dodgy rainforest site for £410, that is what will be used for comparison. It keeps being said that the places we are seeing 1080s sell for £400 are not reputable...
Yes they are reputable sites, jut because you can't find them, doesn't make them not reputable. eg the rainforest lol.
Whilst I agree that AMD are not going to price their products against "one off deals" eg below the rrp, it isn't relevant. If I can buy a 1080 for £400 and Vega costs £450, I'm buying the 1080. That isn't my problem as the consumer, that is AMDs problem. Comparing RRP means nothing if they are selling at completely different prices. The only price that matters is what I can buy it for.
I understand you arguably might need to use RRP when comparing price to performance ratio, but even then, that's questionable.
I have a calendar event in my diary for right after Computex that says "check OCUK forum RE Vega"Thread has turned into some good comedy:
People asked to name places where they can get a 1080 for £400 - Clearly can't name (due to OcUK rules) but others find it but the rainforest is now a dodgy place, so not allowed to use those.
Vega will be a fail if it doesn't beat the 1080
Vega is a fail if it costs more than $50
If Vega is faster than a 1080Ti, power consumption will be used to define the winner and not raw fps
A slow news day again then I see

All this talk of AMD undercutting Nvidia by $100 / $200 $whatever dollars.
You do realise that won't last for more than a day or two? Nvidia do have the ability to lower their prices. Trust me they have a plenty comfortable buffer already there. As usual it's likely they will lower to just above AMD equiv.
