I already told a month before that VEGA is mostly for Pros rather than gamers just like Ryzen.my take away from the video:
1- Vega is a Pro market GPU, and probably lesser for gaming.
2- Vega could have more than expected power draw.
3- AIB will have the ability to really custom their cards, memory, size, cooling, etc ( yay ! )
4- AMD GPUs will have less memory from now on, the HBCC seem to be working well enough to be able to cut cost on packed memory, also means that Vega could be cheap, and low margins for AIB.
5- the switch between single and double precision on the fly seem cool, but will Devs bother intergrating that, if they dont already use it on consoles ( so if scorpio uses vega that would be cool for AMD ), but my guess if this tech works as i think it does, it will need sponsoring or wait untill next gen consoles if AMD manages to make a deal with them.
The passion comes when someone believe that they have the best and can shake the whole market like Maxwell and Pascal. Even the people sitting there knows that AMD has totally given up on beating nvidia best GPU.To save people time, there is no new info in that video. It is basically what raja said before handing out t-shirts. Lol
The info was just delivered more professionally, but this time suffered from lack of passion/excitement when being delivered.
Yup you are right. AMD are targeting 1080p users ,which are the majority with their 4GB VEGA.Yeah but what about all those people gaming at 720p? All those benchmarks which were done with Ryzen vs Intel clearly shows it's a popular resolution many people play at lol!
What is the point for selling 4GB high end card in 2017?Can't they buy the 8gb one then?
It means the option is available and 4GB version exist. He never said there would be a 4gb version. He said the partners would have the option to use 4gb and 8gb. That does not mean there will be a 4gb card, it just means the option is there.
It needs developer support. HBC require coding from developers and it means that every game require coding for HBC just like Prey ,which will have VEGA features.maybe wait to see what segement they are talking about, if high end maybe check the new HBCC feature, and how it performs since if this is the case that would be the thing replacing the packed memory, the bandwidth is so fast they have plenty of room to swap memory around, and if performance is not hindered by lower memory size, then it would be stupid to add cost to the card for no reason.
if Vega isn't exciting performance wise, it certainly is feature wise, so just wait and see what they cooked up before yelling that it's stupid.
yes some people will find it funny because they are in denial just like they were for Fury X and Polaris clocked speed.Too funny some of the comments. No point replying to them really. Not long left now, we will see what's what soon
According to Raja and AMD event on march "Vega 11 is slower than VEGA 10".Interesting, Vega 10 is the little one.
Something is up with the Vega NCU's:
All reports are saying that Vega is a 4096 NCU (CU) device, however the 14nm Vega die we have seen is bigger than expected at 475mm^2 to 525mm^2
https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/5m6uj3/vega_die_size_475mm2_xpost_rhardware/
https://www.computerbase.de/2017-01/amd-vega-preview/
Where did those extra transistors go?!?
I did not mean VEGA , however, i meant for extra die size. It will be good for multi tasking purpose, mining but generally on par with GTX 1080 or some what better.
In Asia AMD is always over priced and Nvidia always a fair price and 2X better resale value than AMD cards.Nah your country is just overpriced.
I could be wrong but that is my guess.Even if you hadn't shown yourself to be anti AMD on an almost daily basis, how could you ever know what it is taking up that extra die space and whether it'll benefit gaming or not?
