AMD what you doing to fight off Alderlake?

12700 (non K) will be the highlight of the series, 12400 / 12400K (if they release one) will be great budget options.

It will be interesting to see what temps the 12900 runs at with air cooling, as it should have the max amount of L3 cache.

The 12400 will have to be a loss leader I think.

The star of Alder lake will be the 12700T I think. Although it’s misleading branded and will probably be expensive.

I wonder how long its going to be before AMD start making some noise about their roadmap, rumour is its updated and accelerated.

I want to see what goodies they have lined up now that Intel have signalled all out war.

Right now 12700K.

Thanks. Looks like I have some more reading to do.
Haven't done a build in 12 years and was going to go for a 5900x and 3800. Was trying to workout best Motherboard, memory and PSU and then these new CPU's drop.

Hmmmmmm. I will have to post a build me a PC for £2.5k post

If DDR5 is too much to swallow ADL still works well with DDR4.

CES maybe.

Apparently some US shops have reduced the price of then 5600X and 5800X. $300 dollars for the 5800X, seems like great value:

No sign up price changes in the UK though, maybe they will wait for a cheaper to produce 'B2' stepping?

Do we have any trans Atlantic PC shops?

A Bulldozer rework would have been like putting lipstick on a rotten pig, deep down i think they knew that. Perhaps at the time AMD's attitude was do or die, people had been predicting AMD's demise in the next year since 2012, in 2015 AMD hit rock bottom at about $1.80 a share, by 2016 they were on the brink of death.

If they delved deep enough on it bulldozer could have been reworked heavily enough to give a decent bump, i think a rework would at the time have been more favourable because of the money situation. But they bet the farm on a new ground up design and it worked out :)

Oh yeah when is that?

I think it is necessary for the 5800X to come down to £300 and the 5600X to £200 with the 5900X at £400, the 12600K at £300 and 12700K at £400 are just too good.

AMD have had a fantastic 21 month run with Zen 3 selling an absolute crap tonne of them at pretty high prices, its time to end them with a big price cut and move swiftly to Zen 3D, like yesterday, and then Zen 4 before the next year is out.

January the 8th I think the public event is. Computex is after that I think. Spring time ish.

It's true, Alder Lake systems won't be truly competitive on price until B660 DDR4 and 5 boards are released, which I think will be a good time to buy. Or, maybe a few cheaper boards with unlocked CPU multipliers??

I'm not really convinced by DDR5 yet, we need to see a lot more modules in the 6000-8000mhz range in my view, before they start to show significant advantages vs DDR4. Still doubt the price will be worth it though.

Ok, i would like to see a reaction from AMD in the next couple of weeks to be honest, to show they are urgently awake and on top of this.

It’s if they could react within a couple weeks.

Maybe bundle an RDNA2 card with a CPU purchase.

The advantages are price and improved density. From performance perspective It’s complicated with the mixed core and bus type Alder lake uses.

Alder Lake is ahead of Zen3 in single core performance too, at least with 6-8 cores, which is what most will buy.
most will buy? you mean some may buy. When it comes to price IMHO I don't think Lisa Su will worry too much about DIY market. sure they could be a drop on some 6 / 8 core parts but when your selling everything you can make who knows. Personally I think that most people that moved to AMD are unlikely to change back given the price / performance and future products. AMD's TAM is huge with expansion in every sector. Best bin are always going to Epyc anyway and that market is unsatiable.

Most gamers that prefer Nvidia. A niche of a niche made up of mainly of anti PC enthusiasts :p

The 12700T might get some traction and high performance IGP parts.

AMD needs to do something at the low end.

like Steve at hub said, he will now not recommend any ryzen 5000 CPU under the 5900x to anyone who is building a new system or needing a new motherboard. Especially for the 5600x which he says he will never recommend anyone until it's $200.
