AMD X2 Socket 939 Prices now dropped !! (X2 3800 @ £99)

seeing as the orders of these X2 3800s have not yet been shipped what are the chances of getting it at the new price thats now posted (£94.95+ vat)?
I doubt the prices will reduce until all of the backorders have been shipped. Otherwise the phone lines will be jammed with people trying to cancel. I am sure I saw a post earlier that said prices are unlikely to go down due to limited availability of these "end of line" chips. Has anyone else noticed that the "cheapest in the UK for AMD guarenteed" slogan has disappeared from the front page?

I've been looking at getting one of the 3800s or maybe the 4200 as its got a higher multi.. But I'm not sure if its a worthy upgrade and if I'll notice the difference. I've currently got a 3700 running at just over 2.7GHz, I game a fair bit, watch movies and use my PC for audio editing. Would a dual core CPU be able to reach that sort of overclock or is it luck of the draw? Is it worth me upgrading bearing in mind the tasks I use my PC for?

Cheers:)

The 4200+ I ordered on friday, has dropped by £6, bearing in mind that O/C didn't make web buyers aware that these chips wouldn't be shipped until Monday, I for one would expect we all should pay the new price.

If the cpu's had been sent out on Friday, then the old price would be in-force.

Street, yes, duel core makes windows a whole lot quicker. I went for the 4200 hoping that I can clock it like my 3700+ (2.65)

I suppose I could always order a couple, see which one clocked the best then sell on the one that wasn't as good..

I am right in thinking that the 4200 has got an 11x multiplier?

Arghhh.

In my head I know that my 3000+ does me fine - but a x2 3800 at just over £100 is very, very, very attractive :(

Also need new motherboard + GPU come to think of it :P

Price: £94.95 (£111.57 Including VAT at 17.5%)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA3800BVBOX) (CP-134-AM)

wrong Dutch Guy Sir :)

ye i noticed that too, it went to £94.95 then a bit later it went back up to £99 ?

will these chips be reduced any further by the way

They have deffo gone back up in price, maybe a ploy not to give customers who have already ordered their £6 refund!!
