AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

Eek, that's not good news (re memory prices). Did think we were probably near the bottom price wise but was expecting a few more months before things changed direction. Thx for the heads up.

The power outage was a NAND fabrication nothing DRAM related at all, Toshiba/Western Digital joint venture. 8GB DRAM modules fell 11% Month-on-Month, and are expected to continue to fall until the end of Q3, with Q4 expecting some stabilty..

Damn so looks like the 3800x did not come with the 3700x :/

Which AMD said they were going to be? should we be worried that they are not turning up today? Really poor information from AMD.

Looking less and less likely to get them by the weekend ;(

I would not have much hope! Nobody has it yet. Im also waiting but thank god i have also the 3700x to play with :D

Gibbo is legging you lot up for a price increase for the faster mem ;)

It will impact the cheaper stuff more one would hope manufacturers have a lot more margin in the faster stuff they are just refusing to quote but the entry level stuff will be most likely to be hit hardest and it’s not me just passing on what we’re being told due to Toshiba NAND factory outage and further issues with North and South Korea, is all we have being told by Corsair, G.Skill and TeamGroup.

Haha your a good salesman gibbo but you aint fooling me ;)

And thanks ordered 3700X :)

Jeesus, the 3700x is getting to 95 degrees on Prime 95. This is with PBO and all core at 4GHz. Doesn't seem that hot in the case :s

PBO may hinder if cooling isnt good enough (maybe 8pack can confirm).

As the XFR system, will adjust its clocks based on temps not just power load, and PBO I think increases voltage (And as such heat) across all frequencies. Doing things like setting a negative voltage offset for this reason if the cpu can handle it could boost performance.

A 3700x has a boost speed of 4.4ghz, that should mean XFR would get all cores up to around 4.3 in ideal conditions but under heavier load probably 4.1-4.2 so 4.0 seems low. I would try turning PBO off and see if it hits higher speeds in prime 95. If it doesnt then try a negative voltage offset and do it again.

Is Prime 95 still one of those torture tests that heats the CPU more than anything? Seems like it really does push temps, I can try 4.1GHz at 1.35V or lower. What's the lowest voltage I should realistically try.
