AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

Pity with Overclockers shipping methods, I just added a load of stuff to my basket and it still turns out dearer with the discounts for the same items in every other shop due to the added delivery costs to Aberdeen.

I've tried that. They said my address doesn't qualify due to location.

am aberdeenshire about 50 mile further up than where you are and i don't think i have ever had free shipping due to being a forum member for anything i've ordered hence why i rarely buy from ocuk because of the ridiculous delivery cost, it really is off putting.

Yeah it is a pity, I used to get free if I paid with Amazon pay but it looks like that is gone now too. Anyway, Will save it for another thread. Don't want to clog this one with complaints.

ah tempted to get 3700x now at £299, that or 3600 plus a 40quid cooler, I think i'd probably take the stock cooler with the 3700x. week to decide.....
im the same the 3600 is pretty much identical to the 3700x in gaming but im just thinking of when the new consoles come out as they may take advantage of the extra cores that the 3700x has

I feel gutted. i have been collecting parts for my zen2 build. The last bit turned up an hour ago, my new lian li 011 dynamic. i was going to be doing it all tomorrow(Saturday) but the case looks live its taken a dive from the top of the shard!!

I see some e-tailers are stating the 3900X is due in now middle of august to the start of September.

The forces of evil/good have been working for/against me (I don't know which) :)

  • Sunday 7th July I pre-ordered a 3800X for better base clocks but it was late coming into stock. In the meantime I read enough reviews to think I should change it to a 3700X and save some money.
  • Monday 8th showed 3900X were in stock and I thought, I already have an 8 core 2700X, should I go for more cores and get a real upgrade. So I rang OCUK and paid the extra for a 3900X just as they ran out of stock.
  • In the meantime both 3700X and 3800X are in stock and the 3700X is on sale.
  • We are now 2 weeks later and the 3900X keeps getting pushed back and Gibbo says "maybe next week". Now you come with this little snippet :)
Patient me is thinking "hold on as it will only be a week or so", inpatient me thinking "cancel and get the 3700X on sale". Practical me is thinking "wait and see and if it drags on and if it does, cancel and wait for 3950X".

Ah first world problems :D

Meanwhile there's no end to the number of people grumping that the world doesn't have enough stock of 3900X cpus

A £500 cpu now has a waiting list.

Such is progress.

Is that such surprise? You have a 'mainstream'/performance consumer CPU that is cannibalising/offsetting the bottom of the HEDT stack; at a price point that is far more accessible?

I for one know at least one buyer who is grabbing one of these, because he uses his system for a combination of gaming, personal use, and professional use. HEDT was out of his reach, but this is perfect, and makes far more sense than a 9900K for his usage and will probably last him a good few years.

Given the previous prices for similar cores and performance from Intel, I don't really see it as a surprise; this was a massive launch for many reasons.
