AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

Right, I have a problem. That I didn't notice right at the beginning (pre BIOS updates) but could have been there. I suffer popping and crackle when listening to audio/youtube tec

CPU 3800X Under push pull 280mm
MOBO ASRock phantom Gaming 4 (£160)
RAM 8PACk Team dark Pro 3600Mhz CL16
MSI founder 1080ti under NZXT Kraken x62
Be Quiet 850W PSu
Audeze Mobius Headset (USB connection)

Even at default bios settings where RAM is at 2400 and defualt for CPU such as no PBO/auto overclock etc. Still the same.

Any ideas?

I have read that raising the VCORE SOC voltage slightly can resolve audio crackling.

No more laggy bios, not sure what the other issue you mentioned is, can you go into more detail?

Read on some forums, people having memory settings cleared on boot, cant remember where I read it but were a few discussing it. It was August though, thats the thing now when looking into all these boards, they were heavily discussed july/august when nothing worked properly for anything and thats the majority of what you will find when researching.

I've been through 9 different BIOS versions on the Elite and never seen that issue.

I haven't seen the laggy BIOS either but I think I read that that only happens with CSM disabled. I've never disabled CSM as it's on by default and I haven't seen a reason to disable it. As MegaPinches says though, it's resolved now.

I had the laggy bios when I first got the board, but that may have been my ram causing it as it did not like being run at xmp. With the latest bios update and loosening my tras timing on the xmp profile which fixed the issue (while I wait for replacement) the bios is silky smooth now.

Ah that's another reason I may not have seen it - I never used XMP.

I am pretty sure that most of the issues that early adopters have had are due to memory timing/compatibility issues. When I ordered my gear, the memory I wanted was out of stock and I couldn't be bothered to wait so I bought some Team Group Xtreem "8Pack Edition" 4133MHz RAM. Total overkill speedwise but it was actually cheaper than the 3600MHz version. Using DRAM calculator manual settings I have it running at 3800MHz CL16 (1900 IF) no problems.

RAM settings reset occur when the RAM overclock is unstable.

Guys do i need to put antenna on integrated asus motherboard wifi adapter? Someone told me that adapter could heat too much if i don't put antenna while it is enabled.

Oh well, Max Payne is awesome. It's one of the few old games I've gone back and replayed several times. Same goes for Half Life 2.
If these types of games don't run and AMD is saying they will no longer support older games then that's quite sad.

Increase SOC should fix this

Only place I read that was when the guy was overclocking his ram. Edit: Go check your Infinity Fabric setting. Leave it on auto. It might not like whatever setting you set at manually. I leave mine auto.

HAve SoC @1.1v already. Tried increasing to 1.15 and still the same. Tried infinity fabric set to manual and auto.

Still static like pops and crackles.

Grrrr it was a failing USB cable. Swapped it and it's fine.

Cheers

1usmus was quite unlucky with his Ryzen 3000 samples, which didn't work at advertised clocks even with abba and 1.0.0.4
Perhaps this fixes only his personal case

Yea, could be.

It could be that silicon lottery plays a role also. Like I can do 4.4GHz all core with ease and even 4.5GHz at a slightly higher voltage. Everyone else here with a 3600 seems to get a crash way before. Will be interesting to see how it goes, I would not mind getting to 4.6Ghz without having to go crazy on voltage for 24/7 use :D
