AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

Thanks chap

That's interesting to know, that was my kind of idea too, go for a stop gap CPU and 450 board that (should) accept zen2. Was originally thinking 1700 but just been looking at 1600x, they are in the £120 region!!!

To be honest I could have held out a while longer but after purchasing the Vega I wanted a nice case. I didn't want to have to move everything now and then redo it all in 6 months so took the jump now, I don't mind about missing out on PCIE 4

I was happy with my move from a 4770k to a 1700.

Some games don't perform as well as the 4770k did, but overall I was very happy

Although getting back into emulation especially with rpcs3 is a little more disappointing and unless Ryzen 2 knocks it out of the park then an i9 is best for that.

Depends on the game, the extra threads can be a massive help...

4690K @ 4.6Ghz 33 FPS all cores looked to 100%

Ryzen 1600 @ 3.85Ghz 85 FPS

Connie takes more to render :p

Different side on the planet/Sun position ect

How does paper cost more to render? :D

Anyway... what Pete said, just different side or some ####... i have also played about with the colour since then, that might have something to do with it.

Looks like a colour temperature difference to me.

Edit.. ship looks different too, maybe just the sun position.

Ship is different type.

Do you see also the contours of the dark side of the planet on the bottom image, while in the top image, the dark side of the planet gets the same black as the cosmos around?!

Are the images taken with one and the same graphics card?

Also, if they are taken from different parts of the game and different planets, the comparison gets not fair quite a bit, no?!

The planets/moons/star systems in SC are dynamic so to catch the same screen shot at the exact same time would be doable but be PITA ..

The slight difference in colours is't going to make a blind bit of difference to the performance deficit that the 4 core Intel has compared to the 6 AMD chip

The first ship can cause performance drop if it is more difficult to be rendered.

@4K8KW10

The Connie is a much larger ship and that does have a small performance hit because there are more Physics involved, this is one reasons why Star Citizen is so heavy on the CPU, each ship is physicalized with mass and directional thrusters that make it move, they simulate real life... plus in 3D terms its a real system with real planets, moons a sun in the center and everything revolves around everything in real time....

But the difference between the Connie and a much smaller ship like the Anvil Arrow in the second picture is very small in the grad scheme of the rest on the game, its makes a negligible difference.

Same GPU...

Look i don't have the Connie anymore but i can get it back, just for you i'll do it again when i have time using the Connie.
