AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

So many removed posts :O

Reckon the Ryzen lineup will launch at different times? eg 6/8 core first, then 12 and 16 a month or two later?
I personally don't see that causing anything other than chaos. I can't see them doing that.

Traditionally the Ryzen 7s and 5s are launched then the low-end Ryzen 3s come later (with Threadripper later again), so I don't see that pattern changing. Of course we have a new SKU and suspected anniversary CPU too. This is what I see happening:

Ryzen 9 3850X announced May 1st as the limited run Anniversary Edition
Ryzen 7 (12 core) and Ryzen 5 (8 core) SKUs announced at Computex
June launch for Ryzen 7 and 5 and the 3850X
Ryzen 9 3800X announced in August/September when all 3850Xs are selling out; launched shortly thereafter
Ryzen 3 launched with little fanfare August/September

16 core version might come later, holding up 12 cores would be equal to AMD shooting itself on foot with shotgun.
Though there's still that 50 year anniversary and could see AMD wanting to release something really special then.

With rumored pricing some low end 6 cores could be also left little later from market competition viewpoint.
Because AMD needs to now take fight to Intel in high end.
Though if they have enough chiplets with no better use, why not make it complete line up?

I hope TR2 is released soon after Ryzen 2. I'm hoping for 32 cores without having to upgrade from a first gen x399 motherboard so I don't have to go E-ATX or get more powerful VRMs + cooling on the mobo.

I personally hope that TR2 will be 8 channel memory (like Epyc) so actually hoping we'll see X499 motherboards and not have to have memory channels crossing cores etc!

You do forget that TR2 CPUs will be with the same I/O die providing ram access to all cores. :)

Threadripper 3 will not be octochannel RAM, that's purely for EPYC servers. Otherwise why bother with a 32 or 48 core single CPU EPYC when you can get a Threadripper for less money?

It won't be a May Launch, it'll be June after Computex. As I suggested above, we'll likely see announcements in May given it's the 50th anniversary, but nowt will hit the shelves until June.
