The 3800X might run same way on my B350F Strix when left on its own devices. Your C7 should handle a 12-core easy.

What I am hoping is able to run all cores as closer to the boost clock as possible or increase the boost clock.

Tempted to try a 3800x on my CH6, not sure i want the 3900x as i only game so no use for the extra cores, still want to see what the actual difference in performance between the 3700x and 3800x is, hoping that the 3800x can maybe boost higher perhaps?

3900X will be the better silicon no doubt.

If that AMD PBO video is anything to go by, we'll probably see a MAX boost on the 3800X of 4.7GHz as opposed to 4.6GHz on the 3700X - providing temps are fine.

Same, I am hoping due to the higher base (300), higher boost (100) and higher TDP, that it actually has better OC or PBO potential. Some say is a less efficient 3700X but I don't think its right. Why would a company grab a better binned, and efficient CPU, clock it lower, and sell it cheaper? It does not make a lot of sense to me.

You can get an extra 200mhz in 25mhz increments on top of the max boost clock using PBO. Maybe a negative offset will net you a bit more.
