Sods law. Trust me, I did think about sending it back considering the cost, but the overall effort involved just filled me with dread so it's something I can live with.
I take it you haven't seen the complexity of my rig?

I was actually going to go WC route! I got the O11D as I thought it was a decent one to build in to, but then as I started to spend more on parts than I planned, WC came a 'nice have' rather than a must have. Considering how annoying I found building what I did, I am REALLY glad I didn't add that complexity into it. I would have wanted hard tubes etc and I honestly don't think I'd have the ability or patience, so for me it was a good choice to avoid.
Ultimately, due to how often I change bits etc, WC isn't practical for me, and GPU aside, I have a more quiet PC than I have ever had in the past.

Hard tubing is something I'll never use, for many reasons lol.

I just bought a 7900x this morning.

Originally I was going to build with the intel i7 13700k, but another forum member talked some sense to me about the AM5 socket, that it will probably last longer than intel's, and for upgrading in the future AMD would be a better choice.

Looking at the CPU benchmarks there's not much between the i7 13700k and the Ryzen 7900x. So I'm pretty happy that I listened to the advice and look forward to starting the build soon.

I paired the CPU with the Asus TUF Gaming X670-E Plus.

Had a 7950x since release, but yeah, it's definitely seemed quiet on the boards regarding threads
It's the cost of motherboards, they're ridiculous. Few people need the full-on X670E, fewer are willing to pay the stupid price for them, so everybody's waiting for B650. But then it's B650E that gets released, and is also (arguably) overspecced and overpriced, so nobody's pulling the trigger. AMD can slash CPU prices all they want, but until price-performance of the boards sorts itself out, sales will be low.

Again, another own-goal for AMD: CPU prices really bring better competitiveness against Raptor Lake, but TCO is still prohibitive.

Motherboard vendors set board pricing, AMD do have influence there, if that isn't enough they could even use a big stick but doing that could damage whatever relationship they have with them.

Apparently thier partners are very happy with the deal they are getting on the new GPU's, so i would wait a bit, AMD should have more carrot influence to say "Look lads, about the motherboard pricing...."

Just wait for Gen5 M.2 SSD prices to rear their heads to make us all have a good laugh!
Oddly there's been very little talk on them in recent weeks. Maybe another CES drop for Q1 release.
(Another part to get full use out of what AM5 has to offer) Costly? Pointless? Unnecessary?

It's crazy to say it with Asus tax but that board is very nice to look at and priced well in the overpriced in general AM5 board market.
 
I could do with a bit of help please...

I've been getting a lot of random crashes in Aida64 when testing cache / memory stability. Sometimes they occur almost immediately, other times after 2-3 hours.

So I tried running the DRAM with the JEDEC profile set.

But it doesn't appear to be 100% stable with the JEDEC profile set on my motherboard (4800 MT/s with 38-38-38-76 Timings).

PBO is disabled.

To even boot into Windows, I had to increase the DRAM voltages above 1.1v. It hasn't failed in Aida64 yet though.

What does that mean exactly?

Is my RAM faulty, or does my ASRock motherboard just not support the RAM properly (Hynix M-die ICs)?

Which Asrock board are you running and is it on the latest bios?

BIOS is the latest version.

In theory, the board supports the RAM in OC mode, but it does not officially support XMP profiles for these modules (16x2GB Kingston Fury Renegade 6000 Mt/s).

Can you load the 6000Mhz profile and then drop it back to say 5600Mhz and test in Aida64.
