AMD Zen 5 rumours

I wonder if we'll get a bunch of accidental price leaks on the 31st. I suspect a number of retailers will have already plugged the new chips into their systems. Some may have an automatic go live date which they might have forgotten to change. That said I bet that anyone who would have done that will likely also have used place holder prices. So wouldn't trust any numbers that come from that :p

Unlikely, but I do think it would be funny.

9600X: $269.99
9700X: $349.99
9900X: $449.99
9950X: $599.99

Would be my guess.

Do we have any idea on how much the X3D variants are going to cost?

Can see the 7800X3D has now gone back down to £329.99 (still £15 more than it was reduced last time)

They will wait for Intel to drop their probably broken crap and go from there....

It depends on Intel, if Intel try to compete on price AMD will drop their prices, they did that with 14'th gen, the 7950X launched at $700, the 14900K entered nearly a year later at $590, AMD dropped the 7950X to $550 and the 7800X3D, which was already out from $450 to $350 as a big fat middle finger to Intel.

Ill wait and see, currently in no rush to upgrade but really want too lol

7800X3D came in at £439.00 on release, I'd honestly expect the same ballpark figure for 9800X3D.
ill keep that in mind

lol...... those will be worth some money to collectors :D

It's not clear that was actually the reason, there's quite a bit of speculation. You'd have thought AMD would confirm it if that's all it was with the Intel drama.

Of course there is speculation but what else could it be that they are fixing in 2 weeks? I've said this before, they aren't fixing a CPU problem in 2 weeks, its common sense, a typo on the IHS that they don't want to get ridiculed for is the best explanation yet.

Its so stupid its probably true....

Surely not even AMD would should themselves in the foot so badly over something so minor? I know they have form for making a completely unnecessary mess of things, but that would be ridiculous.

AMD had a golden launch opportunity with the Intel 13th and 14th gen debacle. After Intel finally acknowledged that a major problem existed and before Intel released a possible potential partial mitigation. Not only did AMD throw away that open goal, they did so in a way that makes it look like they did so because there's a problem with AMD CPUs, a problem serious enough to ensure that AMD won't say anything about it at all. Exactly the same as Intel did about the problem with their CPUs. Right when problems like that are front and centre because of Intel 13th and 14th gen. The worst possible time to keep mostly silent about problems with a CPU and say that all the new CPUs have "quality issues". That might be the worst thing to say at the worst time to say it. It's certainly near the top of the list.

All for some sense of embarrassment over a trivial typo that has no effect on anything other than collectability. Who on earth would sign off on that course of action?

I agree with the point you make about "they aren't fixing a CPU problem in 2 weeks". I agree that does imply it's something trivial, something not really about the CPU at all. A typo on the labelling on the IHS would fit the bill. But handling it in such a cack-handed fashion that makes the company look bad would be a ridiculous own goal. Even for AMD.

For a typo on one SKU they delay the whole launch instead of recalling only that SKU? nah, has to be something else surely, it can't be as silly as that :/

Also if that is the cause why is the 9700x launching before the ryzen 9s

And hey I'm sure everyone here could put together a picture of a cpu saying what ever we feel like. So I am highly suspicious of this.

Pretty sure they aren't recalling the CPU's and shipping the same ones back out in 2 weeks. Problem has i would assume already been resolved and it will just take 2 weeks to replace all the recalled ones, then they sort the recalled ones out and re ship

More than likely photoshopped.

I cannot believe a large enough volume of misnamed CPUs, enough to warrant a recall were shipped out without being noticed, how was this not picked up considering you can see the CPUs name without even opening the box.
