AMD Zen 5 rumours

I miss Windows 7. Yes there was still monitoring, but it was and still is, the best Windows OS imo. Why they butchered it with Win 8 I have no idea.

IIRC, at the time Microsoft under Steve Balmer thought that mobile devices were the future, so when they developed Windows 8, it was designed to look like an OS for mobile devices

I **** you not, Microsoft thought everyone would be working on phones and tablets - they believed laptops and desktops were dead

My guess is it's all the background monitoring/data sponging that is causing the performance issues.
Everything disabled, did it manually then used ShutUp10++ to make sure everything is disabled.. knocked some stuff off in services and regedit too.

Most of the Privacy options are disabled too, i think everything but the microphone lol

There is no monitoring/data stuff running in the background at all, same as my Win 10 install :)

Yeah I remember now. That's why they had that god awful tile system. Win 10 isn't that bad once you install Classic Shell. But why do you have to do like 2-3 extra clicks just to get to something that would take a couple of clicks in Win 7? Baffling.

Even more clicks in Win 11.. try right click - copy/paste etc.. its a pain in the a$$

Anyway were way off topic here.. The End. :p

I bought a hero and gskill 8000mhz dims last night, arriving tomorrow for fitment over the weekend.
Nice one, I also have a selection of G.Skill to test with it up to 8400 and then also CUDIMMs once they are released.

I'm interested to see what the fmax on a 2DPC board

It's the natural progression on the 2nd Gen DDR5 board, it was the same on Intel Z690 vs Z790 which is why I upgraded the Hero.

I also see some rumours about a "new" 1DPC line on the X870E which will be an instabuy if true as the Gene is no longer.

the only issue is that the RAM speed hardly makes any performance difference on RYZEN builds, DDR5 6000 CAS 30 is sweet spot anything above this hardly any difference. I was going to be generous and say 5-10% but its nowhere near that. Not unless there is something I have not seen recently?

One must learn to embrace the Art of MOAR.

That said Ill have a tinker and see where I end up.

I hear the 9800X3D could be out in a few weeks,

This would be 8 core, do cores still play a big part?

The 3d v cache played the biggest part and because the up coming 9800x3d has 1 ccd rather than 2 of the 9900/9950x latency is not a issue, it was the same on 7000 series in games the 7800x3d is by far the best option even now tbh.

What would you say then, going from the 5900x would it be better to go for a 78003D even though it's last gen or just go for the 9950x as you say 9800X3D will won't be much different
