AMD Zen 5 rumours

Nice one

I wonder if AMD will take advantage of Zen5X3D performance and increase prices?

Intel have admitted their next gen is slower than 14900K in games - so Zen 5X3D will be the gaming performance king and lead by 10-20% in games (depending on the game).

£1000 9950X3D, £600 9800X3D? Or will they match Zen4 X3D release prices, hmm!

They'll match current gen prices

However much they cost, it's disappointing that we're unlikely to see any good info until CES 2025. I need to RMA my GPU, but my CPU doesn't have an iGPU and I was hoping to upgrade!

Are we doing price guessing in here as well? :p

£450 for 9800X3D at launch.

Will be sub-£400 in 6 months or less.

We’re all frothing for these releases, but surely this hobby isn’t as popular as it was immediately post-COVID.

7800X3D is currently hitting £400 (RRP £420?) so I'm going for £479.99 for the 9800X3D

It was much lower than that just a few weeks ago when something better was supposedly just around the corner. It’s only commanding that price currently because it’s the ‘current best’ for gaming.

I'm close to finishing tuning of the 9950X in terms of optimising performance via memory, FCLK and Precision Boost Overdrive. The 9950X seems to have a lot of headroom for optimising the voltage frequency curve to improve performance.

System Specs
9950X
Asus X670E Gene
GSkill Trident 8000C38 running at 8000CC32 @ 1.67v
360 AIO Valkyrie + Liquid Metal
Windows 11 24H2
PBO Enabled, +200 Auto OC, x10 Scalar, + Custom Curve optimiser settings

Zen Timings

Karhu MBs

Cinebench R23
48992

GeekBench 6
3735 ST and 26536 MT

3660 ST and 26339 MT

CPU-Z
944 ST and 19096 MT

Aida 64 CPU SHA3
12342

Aida 64 CPU PhotoWorxx
65711

Aida 64 CPU AES
773084

Next target will be 8200Mhz C34 which I think will be achievable with this memory kit.

Very impressive.

I've upgraded to a 9950x, Asus Rog x870E Hero, and 96GB (2x48GB) of Corsair Dominator Titanium 7000mts.

I've only just started the tuning process and this is where I am so far in Cinebench:

Not too bad at all, especially given that the RAM is only running at 6000 and not with particularly tight timings.

I'll have a go at reaching 8000 over the weekend if I get a chance and see if I can match you.

My son got his for £315, but yes they've gone up due to the meh 9000 series so far. But, that's the price and I'm not sure what to expect from the new chip

Cinebench is all about CPU grunt, FCLK and memory don't really matter at all. The key to higher Cinebench using PBO is more negative curve optimiser.

Just go all core negative curve optimiser -15 and see if it passes a run of CB. If it does, increase to -20 and repeat. Rinse and repeat till one core craps the bed.

Lower temperature of the CPU = higher core clock = higher score.

Cheers, I appreciate the advice. I’ve not overclocked one of these newer AMD processors so it’s been quite the learning experience so far.

I’ll let you know how I get on.

It used to be £350 but before this it was also £330.

Lowest I have seen it on OCUK was £315 and since June time its been slowly creeping back up again

Got mine in August last year from OCUK for £317.49 inc VAT. Just a FYI
Maybe they are trying to get as much money for these cpus before the 9000X3D comes out at the end of the month.

May find these go up more if there is not much improvement between the 2 as there will be less demand to sell off old stock.

Think im going to wait until black Friday and see if any decent deals come about.

In no rush to upgrade but I am not going to buy the 7800X3D at £390 when I have seen them sell it as low as £315, ill just wait

New Intel cpus have just gone up on OCUK as well for pre order
