AMD Zen 5 rumours

Wowsers…

I’m still on a 3950x that I purchased on launch and genuinely haven’t felt the need to upgrade. But if there’s any legs in these rumours whatsoever then I think I’ve found my next CPU.

This thread has confused me as i thought AMD Zen 5 was already out
EDIT: Think am getting mixed up with thinking that AM5 was ZEN 5

So if AM5 is the motherboard, What ZEN 5 ?

Thanks

AMD Numbers really confuse me
As why are the 7000 series CPU's faster then the 8000 series. Just seems stupid

Because they trade cache and power envelope for much higher graphics performance. In that regards the 8000 series is much faster.

That'd be quite a preformance bump if true, Always enjoy new product releases, I do end up reading up on the rumors but don't take too much from them, just in case!

No, new motherboard maybe but same socket, these will drop in to existing motherboards.

There will almost certainly be new chipsets though, whether they bring anything useful/worthwhile to the party is unlikely but seems the thing to do :p

And as humbug says the new chips will work in existing boards just fine (with a BIOS update).

At least CPU launches are getting sort of exciting, unlike GPUs!

I might go for a Zen5 CPU in place of my 12600K if these "leaked" numbers turn out anywhere close to true.
High end GPU launches are really exciting. 3090 was immense on release, 4090 even more so. It's just unfortunate that they're 2 years between launches, due to no effective competition.
