I play PS2 too - its just really unoptimised. I run it on a Xen E3 1230 V2/Core i7 3770 and a GTX1080,and there are some graphics options which can push framerates down on the latter a decent amount, and for not much visual improvement. I remember a while back even people with newer CPUs would be complaining about performance,so I think its one of those games you could just throw money at and still get crap framerates during large battles.

Yeah its just a bad performer. I've tried it on a 2500k@ 4.5 a 4690k@ 4.7 a 6700k @ 4.5 and it has been crap on all of them. The GPU utilization is never near max and it can go from 100+ fps down to 30 without good reason.

I remember when I first got the GTX1080,I tried out various settings in an empty area in one of the PS2 maps, and some could crater framerates for some weird reason, which is ridiculous for a game which has been out for so long and not cutting edge when it comes to graphics. The Witcher 3 was producing better framerates!

did i read somewhere itx boards wont be available on launch?
is there a reason for that?
just wondering how long until we see them

From what I can tell it's because of the chip set. The itx boards will have a different much smaller chip set. And by the looks of it all the manufacturers have focused on getting the mainstream boards out the door first. I'm hopeful that the itx boards won't be too far behind. But it's really anyone's guess.

Here's my 6850K @ 4.5 for comparison.

Yup, that looks just about bang on, like with the 6900K its a bit faster than the 7700K at the same speed with its quad channel IMC.

noctua appear to have released a NH-D15 SE-AM4 premium-grade ( more expensive ) that is available for delivery tomorrow in the UK, and it only comes with AM4 mounting hardware ...
AM4 mounting kit also listed in the same place

I don't think the x version comes with a heat sink and the noctua mounting kit takes 2-4 weeks to arrive which you can only order once you have proof of a ryzen motherboard purchase so looks like we will have to buy them and Amazon are the only place I can see them for order at £25..... Bloody ripoff.

This is going to be great. If the 1800x truly is ~£500 and has Broadwell level IPC then it is going to totally destroy Intel's pricing structure :D.

The current 6900k price will look utterly stupid and Intel will have to react.

Having a 5280k I won't be upgrading anytime soon but I am excited as to what the next generations of Ryzen cpus will offer in a couple of years time interms of IPC and price.

well the top one looking at that says about £500 so factor in stock and uk gouging i think it will be £600+

really need to see benchmarks still though.

obviously for most its the lower tier ones and how they oc to match higher end cpus which will sell for mainstream if they obviously match i5/i7s.for less.

what we do know is this place is going to explode once the benchmarks hit ! :D

With the current state of multi threaded support in gaming, or rather lack of, that R1400X 4c/8t could well be the value star of the lineup, with a 3.9Ghz boost, I bet with decent cooling 4.5 to 5Ghz will be an easy reach.

i7 performance for less than £200. Bargain.

multi threading in gaming have been picking up lately, most recent games now scale better with MT, it's really a perfect timing for a cpu manufacturer to expand the core/thread count for mainstream CPUs, that have been hidden behind thousand dollar pay wall.
if Ryzen turn out to be a good enough performer, it will show everyone how intel have been selling ppl a 300£ CPU for a 1000£.

L3 cache will also make a small difference
