*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

I still have no idea what motherboard to get if the performance is there. I was thinking of the Asus Crosshair VI, the ASRock Professional Gaming X370 or the MSI XPower Gaming Titanium. No idea which one to buy.

I have no idea what memory timings do. I mean I know it is better to have fast stuff but how much difference does it actually make?

People who have no intention of running gear out of spec still come here to talk. The stock performance is extremely important because most buyers will never fiddle the settings.

Was discussing this the other day with someone doing 3d modelling, his personal gear is tweaked but the workstations the company provides are totally stock and no fiddling allowed. They cba with it.
That's a different situation though. A business product needs to be ultra reliable. Trying to support over-clocked machines would be a nightmare unless it's carefully administered and monitored.

One thing that is worrying me is that all the reviewer un boxing vids are showing that the cpu's have been used and possibly binned ...i hope some of them buy a cpu of the shelf and test ...will see
and most seem to have higher level motherboards. Wonder if initially there will be many tests with cheaper boards?

Plus most high-end business products use Xeons which don't allow overclocking as easily. And for other computers that don't need the performace why bother? An SSD would be the best upgrade for them.

A lot of the Intel CPU tests are the same AFAIK,from what I gather talking to people.

Edit!!

We will have forum reviews too,so we can get a better picture of stuff that way too.
