*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

I'm not sure either, The fact that these cost a fair bit more than the Intel equivalents has me stalling, Plus I want a high end X370 MATX if possible. I get why Asus etc had added the extra on, Presumably because AMD are saying the platforms good until 2020 so unlike Intel we aren't being forced onto a new board practically every generation. I haven't even ordered a cpu yet, I figured on waiting until afterVega but I've bought some 3000mhz DDR4 as that's going to be needed regardless of the motherboard, cpu or brand.

I'm just waiting till the 2nd to make my mind up on whether to go Ryzen or not. I'm pretty sure I will be I want to see what Anandtech says about it because I trust their reviews. I think I might go for the Asus seeing as I have an Asus motherboard at the moment and they seem to support their motherboards pretty well for quite a long time.

Below is what I have. I noted 2T somewhere but I believe that AMD is normally 1T. hence the question.

Falls into the territory of what I was saying earlier. Currently majority of kits are binned by the vendors at 2T. It's simply easier to do so and makes things easier for the memory controller. As for Ryzen, you'll just have to see what's achievable and what isn't at 1T. GSKILL is normally a good choice as they are all hand binned, but newer kits such as the Tridents have higher guarband margins generally, so if you can I'd opt for one of those over the Ripjaws. That said, until more kits get validated everything is in Benny Hill mode.

As yet that 3400Mhz+ screenshot of a 1700x I think with memory overclocking was at 1t, and the rumour is that the AMD IMC is locked to 1t.

Yep. Although I think a lot of the press gubbins are having to use pretty high binned Intel kits (4Ghz) to get that far. This was always going to be an issue to an extent. It may be the case that certain IC respond completely differently to that on Intel - like some of the earlier Hynix kits perhaps being more preferable, but that is speculation. But as I said in my reply in the other thread to your post, it's questionable still if there's any need being up that high.

For RAM I went with a 32Gb kit from Corsair CMK32GX4M2B3200C16 16-18-18-36 3200mhz @ 1.35v. Hopefully I'll be able to run those timings eventually, maybe at first I'll have to drop down to 2666mhz CL13?

I have also got that same memory, im hoping the 1800x and the asus crosshair should work straight off, hopefully with XMP2.0 settings but we will find out in the next few days....

Orangekhrush just posted this. He was right a while back about the memory situation.
"some inside info, only one motherboard vender has not surpassed 3200Mhz RAM speeds, the Crosshair VI is guaranteed to hit 3800Mhz and with Ryzen it loves high frequency RAM, it is like nitrous to a top fueler"

Yeah just read that, he's been pretty spot on so far with his info.
